Here in Philly we're going to ride the baseball wave as far as it will take us folks:@) This Pepperoni 'P' Phillies Logo Pizza is such a super simple idea for game day, after school snack, or any day. Start with your favorite cheese pizza, I grabbed a quick a personal size Celeste from Dollar Tree. Then place the pepperoni into the shape of a P with the bottom flaring out a bit. Be sure to overlap each piece by half or more. Using a logo for reference is always a good idea. Then bake per package instructions. Easy and sure to be a hit with the kids or any fan.

Philadelphia Phillies Items at Dollar Tree

Popping in to let everyone know that my local Dollar Tree has Phillies items. Never saw MLB there before, it's pretty cool:@) Very similar to the NFL line-up they get every year... Several cups to choose from, plastic logo plates and popcorn/chip bowls:

Savory Sports Team Logo-Willing a Phillies Win... & Quick Turkey Shepard's Pie

As we all know, the term 'fan' is just short for fanatic. And we can be a little extra cra-cra here in Philly... After a soul crushing loss on Saturday, I decided desperate times deserved desperate measures... We were having a Turkey Shepard's Pie for dinner on Sunday so I cut a logo out of paper, laid it on the smoothed out mashed potatoes and gave it a liberal dusting of paprika. I like to think I had a little something to do with the win! You are welcome Philadelphia:@)

As for the recipe, I really don't have one. This is a toss in what you have meal, great for Thanksgiving leftovers. Don't have enough gravy? Sub some green bean casserole. Want a smaller amount? Make it in a pie dish, or loaf pan for two. Anything goes:@)

Easy Turkey Shepard's Pie

Half medium Onion, diced

Stalk of celery, chopped

1-2 Tblsp butter

Cooked turkey, cubed, as much as you'd like

12 oz frozen mixed vegetables, thawed, drain any liquid

very small sweet potato, cooked, peeled, diced-optional

2 C gravy

Poultry seasoning to taste

S&P to taste

Mashed potatoes, enough to cover top

Dots of butter and sprinkle of paprika for top-optional-I didn't use butter because of logo

1. Cook onion and celery in butter until begins to soften.
2. Mix everything except mashed potatoes, pour into 9x13 baking dish.
3. Spread mashed potatoes over top.
4. Dot top with butter and sprinkle of paprika if using.
5. Bake at 375 degrees for about 45 minutes or until heated through.

Color Street Nail Polish Strips -Sports Nail Wraps

I'll be honest folks, it's been a very long time since I've painted my nails, but I am always interested in nail art:@) While these Color Street Nail Polish Strips have been around for years, the idea is new to me. One of the girls at work showed me her shiny new purple nail polish, told me it took mere minutes to apply ~and~ she went to bed right after, I was intrigued... Then she pulled up the fall/sports collection on her phone and I knew I'd have to share... Baseball is in full swing and we're headed towards the playoffs, these are cute!

🏈And it's right around the corner...

I'm not a big fan of the brown helmet,

but there is at least one team that it works for😉

And of course there are many holiday or seasonal colors and designs to choose from. While a bit more expensive than a bottle of nail polish, they are much less expensive than going to the nail salon. Heinz 57 Kielbasa Appetizer -Oven, Grill, or Microwave

These Heinz 57 Kielbasa Appetizers are a nice two ingredient munchie that can be made in the oven, quickly heated in the microwave, or tossed into a disposable pan on the grill for tailgating and summer bar-b-ques:@) You can probably make it in a slow cooker too, but I haven't tried that (yet). I love kielbasa and smoked sausage as an appy, it's something not everyone thinks of serving and I always have some in the freezer. The sauce is pungent and perky, and a nice change from BBQ sauce. Simply slice up the sausage, generously smother in Heinz 57, heat and eat-good stuff folks!

Heinz 57 Kielbasa Appetizers

Kielbasa or smoked sausage, cut into bite size pieces

Heinz 57

1. Add meat to baking dish or disposable pan.
2. Smother in sauce, bake at 350 for about 15 minutes or until meat is heated through. Or microwave at 20 second intervals until heated through. Or grill over medium until meat is heated through, stirring occasionally.
3. Serve with food picks.

Pepperoni and Cheese Stuffed Mini Sweet Peppers

While my plant didn't get very tall, it is loaded with peppers and they are coloring up nicely. Most of them stayed pretty small, only about an inch and a half long. But they are a pretty red and I wanted to enjoy them. So we had Pepperoni and Cheese Stuffed Mini Sweet Peppers with Sunday dinner, and I thought they were a little different and tasty:@) This would be a great snack for parties, game day, or just about any day... I'm guessing it's keto friendly too.

I served mine cold, might try melting the cheese in the oven the next time. A minute or two under the broiler would brown up the tops nicely too:@)

Pepperoni and Cheese Stuffed Mini Sweet Peppers

1. Mix softened cream cheese and shredded mozzarella. About two times as much mozzarella, but doesn't have to be exact.
2. Stir in a few shakes of garlic and onion powder.
3. Stir in small diced pepperoni, as much as you'd like.
4. Stuff into cleaned pepper halves.
5. Top with a shake of oregano.
6. Store covered in refrigerator until time to serve.
7. *Alternately: Bake at 350 degrees for about 10 minutes or until cheese has melted. Brown tops under broiler.

S'Mores Popcorn

I had some leftover graham crackers and ~always~ seem to have a sweet tooth, so I whipped up some S'Mores Popcorn. Good stuff folks:@) You can make this any way you'd like, what more chocolate? Add it. Love marshmallows? Load them up! Is it a holiday, birthday, or sports event? Toss in some color coordinated sprinkles. The key to this idea is working quickly so everything has a chance to stick to the melted chocolate. Then just let the chocolate firm back up and dry, and store in an air tight container. 

Tips for S'Mores Popcorn: 

1. Melt chocolate in a disposable icing bag in the microwave.
2. Add wax paper or parchment paper to the bottom of a cookie sheet for easy clean-up.
3. Use either air popped corn, microwave popcorn, or a store bought bag of already popped.
4. Make this in layers, add some popcorn to cookie sheet, (sprinkle with salt if using air popped corn).
5. Drizzle with melted chocolate, immediately sprinkle on broken bite size graham crackers and mini marshmallows.
6. Add another layer of popcorn and repeat.
7. Let chocolate set-up and store in airtight container.

Melon, Meat, and Cheese Kabobs -a.k.a. Appetizer Kabobs

These Melon, Meat, and Cheese Kabobs are a fun way to serve a light summer meal, or an appetizer for any occasion, any time of year. There is a ton of wiggle room here too, this is cantaloupe, use any melon you have, or mix a few types. Pick your favorite type of cheese, I used Pepper Jack, you know your crowd:@) Meat can be anything from pepperoni to ham cubes, to whatever you like, I had some summer sausage. Don't forget the pickles and/or olives, they'd be great too... Have a bottle of good balsamic vinegar? Yep, please go ahead and add a drizzle. What makes these a little special is using 4" toothpicks instead of long kabob skewers, I found these at Dollar Tree. 

Itty cucumbers are from the garden, and both the yellow cherry and red grape tomatoes are ripening like crazy right now. Seriously, it's 99 degrees outside, a cold drink and I'd call this dinner... Oh, and you know I have to say it, ⚾🏈great for tailgating or football parties too:@)

Happy 4th of July!!! And Baseball Bling...

One of the great things about being from Philadelphia is, my baseball team colors are red, white and blue... That plays well with the summer holidays:@) I'm not a big jewelry person but I do like to have a few fun bracelets to wear on game day. My Eagles charm bracelet last update is here, and now I’ve gathered a few ~very inexpensive~ stacking bracelets in Phillies colors.

Made from craft beads I've gathered over the years, and some stretch bracelets bought on-line. It's just fun to look around to see what I might be able to add as time goes on... Ya gotta support your team-Go Phils!!!

S'mores Dip

We all love the ooey gooey s'mores we make over the campfire, but don't always have a fire available:@) This super simple S'mores Dip starts with melted chocolate chips, then I toasted the marshmallows under the broiler. Use your favorite chips, milk chocolate would be traditional, I had semi-sweet in the house. Is it a special occasion or holiday? Maybe add some birthday or seasonal sprinkles once out of the oven. And of course the dip gets served with graham crackers. We can always add pretzels, vanilla wafers, animal crackers, apple slices or celery if desired. The best part, make as much or as little as you'd like (this is my 5" mini pie dish). Good stuff folks...

One Note: This is a treat that has to be watched carefully though... There's always a chance the marshmallows puff up and expand, we don't want them hitting the broiler element. Tailgating? I'd make them in a foil pan at home, then just reheat on the grill until the chocolate re-melts.

S'mores Dip

Chocolate chips

Mini marshmallows

Sprinkles-optional

Graham crackers or other dippers

1. Place chips in baking dish. 11-ish oz bag will fit in anywhere from a 9" pie plate to a 1 1/2 quart baking dish.
2. Melt chips in microwave or oven, stir until smooth. I used the microwave at 20 second increments.
3. Cover chocolate with marshmallows.
4. Place under 400 degree pre-heated broiler. Watch carefully, remove from oven when marshmallows are toasted and brown.
5. Serve with dippers.

Easy Cake Mix Bars -a.k.a. Last Minute Any Occasion Bars...

This idea was too simple to pass by without trying... These Easy Cake Mix Bars are a tasty treat that starts with a boxed cake mix. The original idea was to mix sprinkles into the batter mimicking a funfetti cake, I like adding them to the top of the batter for a more colorful presentation:@) I will suggest that you take a minute to press the sprinkles down gently into the batter before baking though. The recipe calls for a jelly roll pan, I used a 9x13 (a lot of other commenters used that size), I will try the 15x10 next time and update this post. This is the kind of treat that comes together quickly but will appeal to most people because it tastes like birthday cake, and let's say it, sprinkles are just fun! Don't hesitate to give it a try folks, I think you'll be pleased. And they are perfect not just for birthdays or sleepovers...

Change up the color of the sprinkles for holidays...

While sprinkles or jimmies are best, I only had nonpareils in red, white, and blue so that's what I used. They worked fine too:@)

Easy Cake Mix Bars-from here

Yellow boxed cake mix

1 egg

1/2 C milk

1/3 C oil

1 C white baking chips

1/3 C sprinkles/jimmies or enough to cover top

1. Combine cake mix, egg, milk and oil. Mixture will be think.
2. Stir in chips and sprinkles if not saving them for the top.
3. Spread into greased 15 x 10 x 1" pan. Some comments have used a 9 x 13.
4. If adding sprinkles to the top, add them now.
5. Bake at 350 degrees for 18-25 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
6. Cool completely on wire rack. Cut into bars.

Mini Corn Dog Bites -Jiffy Corn Muffin Mix

Absolutely nothing new here folks, just a reminder that these Retro Corn Dog Bites are extra fun in the summer and every time I see them I think... If we're calling them Corn Dogs, shouldn't they have a stick? So I added a colorful food pick, but the picks are pretty much just for looks. One bite and the cornbread kinda fell off. This is super easy if we use a Jiffy Corn Muffin Mix, and I love using a mini muffin pan, it gives a nice size hot dog bite. Simply set out some dipping sauce, add some sliced watermelon, eat outside in the sunshine, and lunch is served... Then just hose the kids down, and it will be a fun summer afternoon:@) 

Thoughts: What's the best dipping sauce for this? Honey Mustard (3 ingredient recipe here). Making these for adults, or to watch a game? Maybe add a little cheese and dice up some jalapeno, just sayin'... Color coordinating the sticks for team colors (got my Phillies and Eagles here:@), the holidays, or any occasion, is always fun too. Short on time? Jiffy Mix, hot dogs and food picks can all be found at most Dollar Tree stores, run in and out-done.

I'm guessing one Jiffy Mix would make -at least- 36 bites, and probably more. It depends upon the size of your pan.

Corn Dog Bites

Jiffy Corn Muffin Mix, plus called for items on box

Hot dogs, cut into 6 pieces

Food picks

Ketchup, mustard, honey mustard, BBQ sauce, etc, for dipping

1. Make corn muffin mix per box instructions.
2. Spray mini muffin pan well. Spoon mix half way up muffins cups.
3. Add hot dog piece to center of each one, push down into mix.
4. Bake at 400 degrees 10-12 minutes, or until muffins are set.
5. Remove from oven, pop corn dogs out, add stick if desired, and serve.

Nora Fleming Minis for Any Occasion (Literally...)

To cap off Baseball Week I wanted to share a collectible that's new to me... Have you heard of Nora Fleming Minis? The idea is, you pick a base, anything from a serving dish, to a paper towel holder, to a charcuterie board, and then add the mini. Mini's are small figural pieces that commemorate any occasion, every holiday, and just about every day... I scrolled through the Amazon page, and counted roughly 22 bases and 136 minis to chose from. You can go to Amazon or find her web page here. Now, I'm not saying this is an inexpensive gift, but it is certainly one that can be added to over time:@) There is even a scalloped edge square that's blank so you can write whatever message you'd like on it.

Baseball! Candle Ribbon Wrap, Krispie Cookies & Phillies Pinterest Board

I started a new Phillies Baseball Fun Pinterest Board, so this week's posts have had a bit of a baseball and tailgating theme... The next, no-brainer, idea for decorating the candle on my tiered tray, Wrap a Flameless Candle in Icon or Logo Ribbon. You only need about 10" of ribbon to cover a 4" wide pillar candle. I secured the ribbon closed with glue dots. And of course, this doesn't need to be sports theme'd, any pretty ribbon would be nice. Dollar Tree usually has a display of seasonal choices, as well as the glue dots:@) Planning a wedding, bridal shower, baby shower, etc? You could have custom ribbon printed up. But please, only use flameless candles or wrap it around glass jars...

Need a little snack that travels well...

May I suggest these Krispie Mmmm's Cookies.

Baseball Marshmallows -Take me out to the ball game...

I was curious to see how these Baseball Marshmallows would turn out, and I think they're kinda cute. In a perfect world, I would have had a red food writer marker, but I didn't. So I added a couple drops of red food coloring to a small bowl and painted the laces on with a paint brush. Once they dry they can be added to a serving bowl, or mixed in with some peanuts, and maybe even some Cracker Jack:@) This is just a neat little idea to add some fun to your ballgame, whether tailgating or enjoying it at home. Or maybe a little something extra for a baseball theme'd birthday party...

*The food writer pens would be best though. I also suggest Googling a baseball, the laces are in more of a V shape... I used the Chocolate Stuffed Marshmallows from Dollar Tree.

How to Make No-Sew Barbie Tops from Ribbon -Lots of Options...

I wanted to share an idea for a simple Barbie doll top. All that's required is about 6" of ribbon, some velcro and a hot glue gun. A couple folds in the back create darts and add a little shape. These tops kinda remind me of a tube top, although not as form fitting. I also like that straps are optional. Embellishments... If you have some cute trim, pom-poms, zig-zag, ruffle, etc, you could add it to the bottom. I had just enough silly 4" fringe left in my stash to make this one tunic length, yet sill look cool and breezy for a summer baseball game:@)

These tops were made with 1 1/2" wide ribbon:

✂What I did:

Standard Barbie = 6" of ribbon, Curvy Barbie = 6 1/4" of ribbon.

Fold the cut ends over 1/4" and hot glue in place.

Fold two glued ends in half, and glue together.

Place middle of ribbon over doll's bust. If you turn the folded ends up you'll see that it creates a dart on each side creating shape.

Glue velcro to each side of back.

Add straps and embellishments.

Three more variations:

Use short ruffled ribbon for off shoulder look. 5/8" ribbon with necklace as bathing suit top, and I've added a sheer ribbon capelet to the last one.

or wired ribbon scrunched up...

Welcome Sign Update & Leftover Ham, Pineapple and Noodle Casserole & Spinach Plants...

I've been having fun with my new Welcome Home Sign, and now that Easter is over the next holiday icon isn't until Memorial Day. So I decided to look around the house for an idea and made this little Phillies O to hold me over until I come up with something I like better... Logo fabric from my stash (thank you Ma) and I simply glued it to a wide mouth metal canning lid. The best part, the lid automatically sticks to the magnet on the sign, didn't even have to add another magnet. Life is good:@)

And speaking of Easter being over... Have leftover ham? This Ham, Pineapple and Noodle Casserole is a great way to use some up! My ham was huge this year, this might just be Sunday dinner on the next cool day when a little oven heat would be welcome in the house.

I'll leave you with a garden update: I took a quick pic of the spinach in my raised bed garden. I planted these seeds in the fall, the few plants that came up literally wintered over on their own (no cover or cold frame, with freezing Philadelphia temperatures and snow covering the plants). They are hearty little things:@)
