Barbie Easter Crafts Using Pipe Cleaners -DIY Fun

Easter is this weekend so I thought I'd group a few fun crafts together that all start with inexpensive pipe cleaners. ♥Love the fuzzy bunny slippers, and why not make a bubble wand for Barbie too, as the kids will probably be getting some bubbles in their Easter basket! All of the projects are small enough to complete in a short amount of time, and all would fit inside a plastic egg... If The Bunny is so inclined:@)

Reindeer Round-Up: Ornament from Bulbs, Cookies, Barbie Headband, and more...

I thought it might be fun to gather some Rudolph the Reindeer theme'd posts as we're getting into the Christmas spirit... You'll notice they are all similar, but really cute:@) The best part, these are inexpensive crafts, and one pack of pipe cleaners, pom-poms and eyes will make several projects. You might even already have everything in your craft stash...

I love the idea of Recycling Old C9 or C7 Bulbs into Rudolph Ornaments. Perfect little time fillers for kids Christmas parties and sleepovers.

And if the kids are over for some crafting, they'll need a little snack. These Rudolph's Nose Cookies are really cute, and quite tasty:@) How about having a Rudolph Night. Maybe a little craft, a little snack, and watching the show or a movie...

Creating a gift bucket or basket this year? How about adding a Decorated Reindeer Bottle, it can be beer, soda, or juice. Comes together in no time and adds to the fun!

And we can't forget Barbie, she wants in on the reindeer games too... These Reindeer Headbands couldn't be easier, simply use a recycled bottle ring and one pipe cleaner-done. Of course a little red pom-pom nose adds to the fun:@) Side note: Looking for an Elf on the Shelf idea... Make some antlers for him too!

Ferrero Rocher Turkeys, Reindeer and New Angel Craft

Unexpected place settings make sweet little gifts, and I've made several versions for different holidays by starting with Ferrero Rocher Candy. There are Turkeys for Thanksgiving and Reindeer for Christmas:@) They also look cute hanging on the tree as ornaments. The latest is this Little Angel. 

I think this would be a good craft project for the kids:

1. I like to take the sticker off of the foil and stick it to the bottom of the brown cup.
2. Cut a piece of pipe cleaner, wrap loosely around finger, wrap around itself to create a circle, then bring it straight down to create the halo. Cut to desired length and glue in place. 
3. Then cut a piece of wide ribbon, wrap pipe cleaner around center to create wings (think bow tie shape). Cut wire and glue in place. 
4. I glued on google eyes, a pink bead for the nose, and drew eyelashes with a thin Sharpie. 

Yarn hair??? Maybe if I had gold yarn. A small amount of real curly doll hair right on top would be fun... I'm sure you can think of more embellishments to make her even cuter:@)

ReView: Bottle Cap Spiders, Cheeseburger Chowder & Barbie Ornaments

As we look forward to Halloween and begin decorating... Maybe you're looking for an easy craft for the kids, or need a few more ornaments for the Halloween tree. These Bottle Cap Spiders are a quick project that looks cute:@) Simply save a few caps from water bottles and glue on pipe cleaners for legs. Full tutorial and suggestions here.

If you'd like to try a nice, stick to the ribs, hearty soup, I think you'll like this Cheeseburger Chowder:@) As I mention in the original post, it might not be the prettiest soup, but it sure is good! Perfect as the days begin to get a little cooler.

And one of the things I love looking for at thrift stores is Christmas ornaments that can be used as Barbie toys or diorama props. Had to grab this wooden guitar for $1 the minute I saw it:@) The strings are wire and there's a ton of detail. The dolls are enjoying the nice weather and a quiet moment at Cousin Rube's Peace and Pancakes Farm...

Here's another one that's 2 for $1.25... While I do understand these ornaments are intended to resemble harps, I just love the scale as a guitar for Barbie. All I did was hot glue a strap to the back of the instrument and wa-la we have a fun toy for Barbie play.

I did rub some glitter off of two spots on the back before I glued the ribbon trim on.

Football!!! Team Color Dyed Pasta & Sports Ugly Sweater Vest for Ken (Barbie)

It's my favorite season folks, Football Season:@) Why not kick off the year with this fun little twist and make a crowd pleasing (and filling) Team Color Dyed Pasta Salad. This isn't really a recipe for the salad, just sharing how to intensely dye the pasta in team colors. I've even provided a chart from McCormick that shows how many drops of food coloring to use for each team. The chart is for icing, but it gives you a good idea. Yep, this would be a conversation starter for sure! Although here in Philly, we talk about the Eagles 24/7 year round anyway...

And even Ken is excited for football, he's sporting his ugly team sweater vest for opening day. I took my free vest pattern and "glammed" (or maybe "hammed") it up with team colors and a nod to all things football. Ken says it's his lucky vest and any true fan would be thrilled to have one... Barbie on the other hand, rolls her eyes and wouldn't be seen in public with him dressed like this😉

(My football is a child's ring that was a decoration on some cupcakes from Walmart.)

The idea is based on Ugly Christmas Sweaters🎅

so the tackier the better!

And yes, even guys like a little bling😎

Now Ken is ready for some football!!!

The pattern I started with:

✂What I did:

1. Cut pattern from paper.
2. Fold piece of felt in half.
3. Place pattern on fold of felt. Pin pattern in place.
4. Cut vest out.
5. If your felt has a design, place right sides together (turn inside out).
6. Sew or glue sides together, aim for a 1/4" seam.
7. Turn right side out. Gently press side seams so they lay flatter. You could lay a book on the vest to help with that.
8. Dress Ken and smile at 10 minutes of time well spent😉

And of course these vests can be plain for every day, or dressed up for any sport, holiday, or occasion:

Valentine's Day Candy Love Bugs

These little Valentine's Day Candy Love Bugs come together in no time and you just might have everything you need in your craft stash already. Any larger kind of round candy will work, Lindt or Ferraro Rocher were the first two that came to mind. Bonus, the Lindt wrapper looks like wings too:@) I happened to have some foam hearts for the feet, you could also cut hearts out of felt or construction paper. And if you're short on time, Dollar Tree had some kits to make love bugs from a pom-pom... Simply glue the items to the candy instead.

A couple options for antenna:

(Just be sure you blow all of the little pipe cleaner fuzzies off the wrapper 

before taking pictures gifting:@)

Simply add feet for stability, eyes, nose and antenna with glue. 

I used hot glue.

Saturday Re-BOO: Halloween Bottle Cap Spiders & Graveyard Bean Dip

I thought we'd keep the Happy in Halloween by revisiting a couple kid friendly ideas:@) These Bottle Cap Spiders are an easy fun craft for Halloween parties (or to keep little goblins busy for a while any day). They only require three items and make good use of recycled water bottle caps. I even saw these crazy tinsel pom-poms at Dollar Tree last weekend. Saturday Snipits: Pansy Planter & Barbie Headband Crafts Round-Up

I love making little headband crafts from recycled bottle rings for Barbie. And this cat ear headband comes together in no time using only two items, a sturdy bottle ring and a pipe cleaner. It can be embellished as desired, maybe a little contrasting colored pipe cleaner or faux fur in the center of each ear, but that's really not necessary to give everyone the idea of what we made. 

This comes together pretty much exactly as the Unicorn Headband HERE. 

The only difference is, make sure you bend the ears into a point for the cat headband.

I was so pleased planting winter hardy pansies last year I wanted to try it again. I opted for a $2.50 pot of mixed traditional colors and hope to get pics fall through winter. Last year they colored up every time the temperature got milder and I even had some flowers in the snow:@) My mini-zinnias are still growing strong, and while they are shading my pansies a bit, I just can't pull them out yet... Can anyone else relate to that?

Barbie #1 Fan Foam Finger Free Pattern & 1:6 Scale Crock Pot of Meatballs-DIY

Are you ready for some football??? We sure are here at PIM! The NFL season kicks off this week and to show some support for our team, I made a small, Barbie size foam finger and this ~really cute~ 1:6 scale slow cooker of meatballs:@) The finger is a pretty quick project, the slow cooker was a little more involved, but that was mostly drying time for the glue.

For the fan finger:

I didn't have green, black or white, but did have some pink craft foam leftover from an old project. 

And if anyone can pull off pink, it's Barbie:@)

What I did:

1. Trace pattern onto foam, flip pattern over and trace another one.
2. Cut out, aim for ~outside~ of drawing line (maybe make the wrist a little wider too, got mine on, but it's tight).
3. Glue two sides together leaving bottom open so you can slip the doll's hand inside (I used hot glue).
4. Finish drawing fingers and outline, add #1 if desired (I used a regular size Sharpie).

And we all know football requires munchies...

Barbie whipped up a Slow Cooker of Meatballs for the game😎

Are you looking for some fun meatballs for ~your~ football party?

I started with the little container from Play Dough (either that brand or another), 

the smallest ones you sometimes see as party favors, Halloween treats or stocking stuffers.

The lids are perfect because they really look like the vessel.

I chose to keep my lid intact, you could also cut the center out so you could fill the pot with 'food'.

1. Open container, discard play dough. Cut tab off so the top is round.
2. Paint tops black, or color of choice. I was hoping for a shiny finish, so I used black nail polish-that didn't quite work out.
3. I couldn't get the label off of the container cleanly, so I just spray painted silver over it.
4. Glue 3 or 4 beads to the bottom for feet, one on each side for handles, and one to center lower front for the temperature knob. I thought Aileen's Turbo Tacky Glue might be neater than hot glue, and did spend a lot of time waiting for it to dry.
5. Add small team logo to front if you have one:@)
6. Roll small meatballs out of clay that will dry out. Paint them or use markers for color.
7. Glue meatballs to top.
8. My 'sauce' is nail polish, again I was aiming for a shiny wet look.

Fuzzy Bunny Slippers for Barbie & Instant Pot Dyed Easter Eggs

I've wanted to make some fuzzy bunny slippers for Barbie for quite a while and decided Easter was the perfect time! They only require two pipe cleaners, two itty size pom-poms and some beads for eyes. The finished slippers are about 3/4" long and fit the slender foot dolls that wear high heels. 

A few twists, some bends, a little hot glue, and ~maybe~ a half hour of your time... 

And you'll be a Super Hero in the eyes of your girl:@)

White is a little hard to photograph...

But I think you get the idea -super cute😉

Bunny from Pom-poms here.

What I did:

1. Fold pipe cleaner with one side 3/4" long. Wrap around the short end one more time to half way point, the thinner end will be the front of the slippers.
2. Working with the longer piece, fold up and over the top of the foot, make it snug. *Pic below.
3. Bend and wrap around the bottom of the slipper. Bring up the side behind the half circle for the top of the slipper.
4. Make a loop for the first bunny ear. Bring long loose end through the hole for the top of the slipper.
5. Make the second ear. Bring the loose end through the hole again.
6. Wrap around top of slipper to bottom, tuck loose end through where it wrapped around the bottom. Cut pipe cleaner.
7. Shape slippers.
8. Glue on nose and eyes.

Barbie says everyone likes to feel cozy and comfortable😎

How to make doll size shamrocks from pipe cleaners:

Simply wrap a pipe cleaner around a pencil (or pen, or knitting needle) three times.

Scrunch them together and twist the straight strands together creating the stem. 

Slide off of the pencil.

Turn the loops facing forward, creating circles.

Wa-la, shamrocks😎
