I'm guessing a few of us will be carving Jack-O-Lanterns this weekend:@) May I suggest making a nice, natural treat with the seeds. I'm sharing two recipes showing How to Roast Pumpkin Seeds. One flavor is Sweet Heat with coconut oil, cinnamon, sugar and hot sauce. The other is a Smoked Paprika version. Both are easy to make and very good!
I saw these cute vests that were intended to be wrapped around wine bottles as Christmas gift decorations, and I thought they would make great Holiday Vests for Ken. Depending upon how detailed you'd like to make it look, this is a quick no-hem craft that has a no-sew option. I chose to make mine totally with hot glue to see how that would look. Simply cut one from felt, add a little bow tie and some buttons... And Ken looks like he's ready to be the life of the party:@)
What I did:
- Fold felt in half, using the fold as the neckline, pin pattern in place, cut one.
- Slightly overlap the front (like you're buttoning a shirt), sew or glue closed.
- Sew or glue buttons onto overlapping side.
- Sew or glue little bow tie (mine was from the craft store).
- Sew or glue ribbon to each side so it can be tied behind doll's back.
- Optional: Glue small piece of white or contrasting colored fabric, ribbon or ruffle to top backside of front. I added the red check for some seasonal color contrast.
- Optional: Sew all the way around the vest making it look like a neat seam.
- Optional: Create "pockets" by either gluing contrasting felt on, or drawing them with a Sharpie.
- Optional: Sew or glue small piece of chain to each pocket.
- Optional: Now, this vest sticks up around the doll's neck... If you want it to lay flatter, simply cut it apart at the middle of the back of the neck and hot glue some velcro for closure.

Oh and, if you want to make a few for wine bottle gifts,
that's fun too😉
🎃Make something just for fun and have a Happy Holiday Weekend🎅
My mom would always roast pumpkin seeds for us! I don't know why I don't....well, picky family probably has something to do with it. But a small batch for personal snacking sounds like a good compromise!
ReplyDeleteWe love pumpkin seeds! Ken’s vest looks like a winner. Now I need to find two Ken dolls. I found two new Barbie’s on FB Marketplace to keep at my house.
ReplyDeleteHappy Halloween, Lynn!
I love roasted pumpkin seeds, my mom used to always fix them after we carved the pumpkin. Ken looks dapper in his vest!
