My neighbors have a ton of stuff in the backyard and I noticed some cement garden statues. They began purging a bit and I asked if there was a taker for a couple mushrooms and this little gnome yet... Home they came:@) I'm a sucker for these things, I guess they remind me of my childhood. And yes, they are that old too. While gnomes are everywhere these days, you just don't find them like this anymore. 100% cement, very heavy, and he's about 30" tall to the tip of his hat.
He had been laying in the grass
the whole 25 years I've lived here,
and needed a little sprucing up...
A scrubbing with some water and a brush,
some acrylic craft paint,
and about an hour of my time later...
Tried to keep the colors close to original,
although I think his pants had a little more orange in them.
I don't expect the paint to stay vibrant for long,
this is just a quick fix for now.
I can always make changes as I'd like.
A wise old sentry...
Smoking a pipe,
sitting on a tree stump
with mushrooms to the right.
I placed him at the corner of the strawberry garden.
Just another little touch that makes me smile😎
Have a happy day!
Oh, my...he looked as if he had spent too much time in the local 'gnome pub'. Definitely needed a touch up...love it! So much fun!
ReplyDeleteHey Lynn, that is so neat that you were able to take the gnome from you neighbor. You did a great job touching him up. He will look great in your yard.
ReplyDeleteGreat makeover Lynn!
ReplyDeleteYou did a wonderful job on the gnomes transformation and I’m sure he makes you smile.
