Spoiler alert... I'm a yay:@) I always look for the packs of seeds at Dollar Tree and do have a tendency to hoard them... The good news is, they do get used though. While there aren't as many seeds in each pack as you'd get from the more expensive brands, I feel they are still worth the money. They grow just fine, and work well for backyard gardeners. This year I tossed some radish seeds in, and they're just getting big enough to pull. Never had a white radish before... Good stuff folks! The pack shows yellow radishes too, I hope one of them grows.
The seed packs:
They will sell single packs for 25¢,
and vegetable seeds are non-taxable.
I'm a big fan of succession planting
for string beans.
I aim to have at least three going at all times.
We eat a lot of fresh beans during the summer.
The smaller packs of seeds work well for planters.
And around the beginning of June I'll pick snow peas
for our traditional sweet and sour chicken dinner.
Walmart sells 20-25¢ seeds too.
May flowers = June dinner:@)
And I tucked some extra spinach seeds away.
I'll be planting in the Aerogarden,
~and~ the small cold frame this winter.
It will be a fun experiment.
So, if you've ever wondered if cheap seeds were worth trying,
I give a big thumbs up:@)
And I ~always~ have a big stash of them on-hand.
Enjoy your garden and,
Have a Happy Day๐
Wow, 25 cents! That is amazing! Happy growing!
ReplyDeleteThanks for letting us know and getting to see the results! Happy weekend, Lynn.
ReplyDeleteGreat gardening post Lynne, I know I missed starting stuff so much this year, crossing my fingers we get anything!
ReplyDeleteThat is great new Lynn about the seed packets at DT. I do love the Dollar Tree store and I wish they didn't close down the store that was near me. I will have to make a trip and visit the store soon.
