Cranberry Dip!

Hi everyone! For my Personal PIGskin Challenge this week, here's an easy seasonal dip. A friend suggested it, I took it to the office and it got a big thumbs up-thanks Carol!
Hope you love it if you try it:@)
Cranberry Dip
1-8oz package cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup sour cream
2 tablespoons honey
Can of whole berry cranberry sauce
1 tablespoon orange zest

Directions:
  1. Mix cream cheese, sour cream and honey with mixer until combined.
  2. *Line a bowl with plastic wrap and press cream cheese mixture into bowl (so it will be the shape of the bowl when chilled).
  3. *Let chill for at least an hour.
  4. *Unmold dip mixture on a serving plate (turn upside down and remove plastic wrap).
  5. Stir the cranberry sauce with a fork to loosen it up and get into a spreadable consistency.
  6. Spread cranberry all around and top with orange zest.
  7. Serve with crackers and pretzels.
Notes:
  • *I think you could mix it and just add it right to the bowl you plan to use, the chilled "shape" gets lost very quickly in the cranberry sauce.
  • I just zested one orange, didn't measure it.
  • It would be great with some cinnamon and/or ground cloves added to the cranberries. Finely chopped walnuts or pecans would be good too.

I do love cream cheese/cracker snacks. Used to make one where cocktail shrimp mixed with the cream cheese, cocktail sauce spread across the top.

  32. I want to thank you for your kind words on my recent post...I do appreciate them. Also, this is just a wonderful snack idea!! I've purchased the compote that you pour over cream cheese, but never thought of creating your own sauce with such simple and yummy ingredients! I just canned cranberry chutney with a friend...and it tastes good over cream cheese, too.

I hope you have a wonderful TGiving with your family and friends and piggies!!

  35. Looks good! I just read a recipe for taking cooked cranberries and placing a bit in square of pie crust. They are baked in mini muffin tins. The crust folds up over the top like an envelope. I may give this a try. Definitely trying the recipe you shared. Thanks! ~ Sarah
