Broccomole -Creamy Dip Using Broccoli instead of Avocado with Low Fat Option

It's Super Bowl Week folks, so I have a few easy party appetizer and munchie ideas to share-yep, that's what I do:@) Now, I love me some guacamole, and actually have a couple recipes here on the blog. But, as soon as I saw this Broccomole, using broccoli instead of avocado, I knew I'd have to give it a try. I really enjoyed this different dip but will say (and the boys confirm) you do have to ~love~ broccoli. I felt it needed a bump in flavor and added garlic powder, cumin and some hot sauce. And while I didn't show it for the pic, I liked adding an additional shot or two of hot sauce to the top before dipping.
Leftovers? Spoon this over pasta or rice and serve with some chicken-very nice!
The recipe, as written below is more than enough for two-three people and easily increased. You will need to add salt.

Broccomole-heavily adapted from Taste of Home
For each cup of cooked (lightly packed into the cup) broccoli:
2 Tblsp sour cream-they called for reduced fat, I used regular
1 Tblsp minced fresh onion
1 1/2 tsp mayonnaise-they called for fat free, I used regular
1 Tblsp lemon juice-lime juice would be good too
1/4 tsp chili powder
1/4 tsp cumin
1/8 tsp garlic powder
couple shots of hot sauce
S&P to taste-I used my Walmart Lemon Pepper Seasoning
~Add everything to food chopper and pulse until fairly smooth, scraping down sides a few times.
~Serve with tortilla chips, potato chips, bagel chips or vegetables.

Eat well and have a happy day:@)

  1. I love your Eagles cheering piggies running across the top!! I will pass on the broccumole, I have been trying to love broccoli but still not a fan. Interesting recipe though, very inventive! Rooting for Eagles on Sunday!

  3. What a fun dip! It's amazing how creamy it looks with just a little mayo and sour cream! Maybe I'll skip the broccoli salad and make broccomole instead :)
