Falling Leaves Pear Pie

I've had the idea to make this Falling Leaves Pear Pie for a couple years now and I'm glad I finally did! The top crust is made from several different sized cookie cutters and sprinkled with colored sugar (add the sugar before you put the leaves on the pie). The leaf crust could be used with any flavor of pie, pears happened to be on sale and sounded good! This fun fall design would be perfect right through Thanksgiving, even my boys commented that they thought this pie looked neat:@)

Very colorful!
Make pear pie exactly the same way you make your favorite apple pie, just substitute pears.
I used 5 large Bartlett pears.

Pear Pie
2 pie crusts-you'll need extra if you make the leaves
Approx 5 cups peeled and chopped pears (enough to mound in the pie plate)
3 heaping Tblsp A/P flour
3/4-1 C sugar
1/2 tsp cinnamon (or more, I just shake it in
~ Mix fruit filling and add it to bottom crust, add top crust. Bake according to your favorite crust's directions.
~ Note: The sugar can burn so I did keep an eye on it and covered the edges with foil during the last 15 minutes.
