Christmas Symbolism-Poinsettias!

Hi everyone! I'm joining the Poinsettia Party, Fresh Cut Friday, and the Christmas Party this week! My plans for the poinsettia were changed when I broke a branch off by accident...
So for me it's actually "Fresh Break Friday", but I can still play along:@)
I added the branch and some white pine to a tea pot, some brass bells for sparkle!

Then I mixed it up a bit and played with this funky bird I've had for years!
One last shot...

The Legend of the Poinsettia
Mexican legend tells of a boy who had no gift to put by the figure of baby Jesus in church on Christmas Eve. On his way to church he heard an angel tell him to pick some dried weeds for his gift. As he laid them beside the other gifts, the weeds turned into beautiful flowers. Dr. Joel Poinsett, the first U. S. ambassador to Mexico, brought the plant to the United States where it was named "poinsettia".
Have a happy day:@)

Interesting tidbit: Sue @ I Need Mom commented:
If you will take your pointsettia stem and hold a lighter or match to it to "seal" the stem, it will last for a very long time in water. (I used to work for a florist)
Thanks Sue!

  1. Hi Lynn, I didn't know about this meme. I could have posted this one. My sister gave us the most beautiful poinsettia plant.

You made me laugh with your post today. Something like when you get a lemon, make lemonade. Smile. Very clever and pretty too.

  3. Hello Lynn,
fabulous, what you made from the broken branch. And you have a wonderful runner with Poinsettia. I have never seen such a nice one. My dear friend, why is al bird allowed to sit with the Poinsettia? What's about Mr. Pudge or at least a friend of him?
Thank you for sharing this interesting story. I didn't knew.
    Greetings, Johanna

  15. What a pretty arrangement. I hate when I break a flower off from a bouquet and always try to do something special with it {out of guilt, I think!}. Thanks for the history on the poinsettia!

  24. Sometimes, the simplest of ideas turns out to be the best and the prettiest... I've broken my share of poinsettia branches- me and my klutziness and my brown thumb, too. Yours does look lovely in that tea pot. Oh- and that piggy being ridden by that farmer cracked me up. I wasn't quite sure what I was seeing when I first saw the picture- it is 2 in the morning, after all... LOL
