Barbie's Football Pillows & Super Bowl Marshmallows

Here in Barbie's World we can still get together for a football party and there isn't a bigger one than the Super Bowl! Barbie will be hosting this year and she began gathering items to add to the fun... First up, these simple football pillows made from a fat quarter of fabric from Walmart. I've been looking at this fabric forever and finally decided to pick it up.

I'm especially tickled with the 3D football pillow-super cute๐Ÿ˜Ž

The fabric:
As a point of reference, the footballs are about 2 3/4" long from tip to tip.

What I did for the 3D football:
Cut three footballs out of the fabric. Give yourself about 1/4" of green all around the footballs.

Lay two pieces right sides together, sew from one tip of the ball, down one side to the other tip of the ball.
Lay the third ball, right sides together, on what would be the center ball.
Repeat sewing from tip to tip as above.
At this point it looks like this:

Another pic:
You'll have a football that has a center and two sides that can open out (cut sides unsewn):
Lay the two unsewn sides together (right side to right side),
Sew from tip of ball down the side a bit, maybe 1/2-3/4",
give yourself at least 1" of an opening so you can stuff the ball.
Sew up from the other tip the same way.
Turn the ball right side out, push out the points a bit.
Stuff the ball and hand sew the opening closed.
Shape ball-done๐Ÿ˜Š

The square/rectangle pillow is pretty straight forward:
Any size you'd like, right sides together, sew all around edges, but leave at least 1" opening for stuffing.
Turn right side out, push corners out.
Stuff, sew or Liquid Stitch closed.
Shape a bit-done!

Joe says, normally he's not a fan of decorative pillows... But now he has something to throw at the TV when the refs make a bad call!

This is one of the easiest Super Bowl party treats you could possibly make... Team Colored Marshmallows, and this year, the only main color candy melt you need is red. Which most of us probably have because Christmas wasn't all that long ago:@) The two accent colors would be gold for the Chiefs and silver, also colors you may already have in your cake/cookie decorating stash. Technically Tampa Bay's color is pewter, but Wilton's silver sugar is pretty dark, so that's close enough for me!

๐ŸˆMake something just for fun and have a happy day!

  1. Such cute ideas! One of our managers is the radio broadcaster for the Chiefs, so since I don't watch football, I guess I'll root for the Chiefs. LOL I only watch for the half time show. Hope all is well.
