Wednesday ReView: Jam Shortbread Bar Cookies and No-Sew Bathing Suit Wrap for Barbie

A lot of us are still sticking close to home... If you're looking for a great treat that's made easily, with the added bonus of only requiring five pantry items, may I suggest these Jam Shortbread Bar Cookies. They were a big hit at Sunday dinner ~way~ back in 2013. Truly worth trying folks:@)

And here's a cute little summer craft, this bathing suit wrap for Barbie comes together in a minute and only requires fabric and a pair of scissors (pinking shears would help control fraying if you have them). Simply fold fabric in half and measure 7" across the top, make a dot, measure 5" down the fold and make a dot. Draw a line from dot to dot making a triangle. Cut out, fold the top over 1/4" (14" side), run finger nail over fold to create a crease. Tie around Barbie's waist-done! Now, you could always embellish a bit... Sew or glue a ruffle, fringe, ribbon, sequins or beaded decoration to the bottom. I chose to cut 1/2" of fringe into mine.

This wrap is simply a triangle of fabric folks.

Barbie says: It's summer and the living is easy... Lovin' it😎

Or how about this Bathing Suit Cover-Up from a Mesh Produce Bag. Since this dress really isn't fitted it works well with standard and curvy Barbies. Cantaloupe bags are long enough to make a floor length cover-up, little cutie oranges (this one) comes down to below her knee. Some bags are a stiffer plastic and some are softer and drape more, the ones that drape are best for this project.

DIY Bathing Suit Cover-Up for Barbie Dolls from Mesh Produce Bag:
  1. Simply cut the label off of the top, and the seam off of the bottom. That leaves a 'tube' shape.
  2. Fold the top of the bag over about 2-3 rows, and run a ribbon through the second row of holes, use a long enough ribbon so you have two long ends to tie together into a bow in front.
  3. Slide dress over doll, it will cover her bathing suit top and go under her arms. Scrunch/snug up the top and tie the ribbon.
  4. Easy, breezy and cute!

  1. The jam shortbread bars look like the perfect accompaniment to a cup of tea, Lynn. Barbie looks like she’s ready for some warm temperatures. I had a dream that I was at the beach, last night! I guess I’m ready, too.
