1/2 lb ground beef
1/2 C onion, diced
1/4 C diced red (preferably) or green bell pepper
1/2 tsp Montreal Steak Seasoning-can add a little more if you like it robust
1 Tblsp red wine vinegar
1 Tblsp Worcestershire Sauce
8 oz can tomato sauce
1 Tblsp tomato paste
2 Tblsp brown sugar-can add a little more if desired, you know your crowd
15 oz can Great Northern Beans, drained and rinsed
- Brown beef in skillet, drain extra grease if necessary, reserving only enough to cook the veggies.
- Add onion and pepper, cook 5 minutes.
- Stir in everything else. Bring to a simmer and cook for 5-10 minutes or until desired consistency and veggies are tender.
- Can be served in a bowl as is (with crackers is nice), or over rice, or on rolls as a sandwich... or even as a dip with tortilla chips.
Eat well and have a happy day:@)
Yum! My weird family doesn't like sloppy joes or beans. ughhh. Last week I tried to sneak in a different version of a sloppy joe called Taco Joe ~ and they wouldn't even eat that. next time, I'm gonna do like I do the dogs pills and wrap it in cheese. lol.
ReplyDeleteI have a neighbor that would agree with you. She cooks some kind, mostly red beans, and shares with me often. Nothing wrong with good country cooking.
ReplyDeleteMy Daddy always loved Great Northerns...this makes me think of him! Hugs!
ReplyDeleteThis popped up just in time ...I have everything on hand & will be making it for supper tonight. Thanks Lynn!
ReplyDeleteI could live on beans! This sounds great :)
ReplyDeleteI love Sloppy Joe's and I love great northern beans, so this sounds like a perfect match. I like the idea of serving this dish over rice.
ReplyDeleteThis would be a yummy way for Bill to get his bean fix!! I'm not a fan of all beans, but I do enjoy Great Northerns :)
ReplyDeleteI love beans Lynn and your Sloppy Joe version hearty and tasty too!
