How to Make Hatching Chicks (Peeps) for your Deviled Egg Tray

The idea for these little Hard Boiled Egg Chicks has been around forever... I just happened to be making egg salad for lunch, so I gave them a try. They only took about 10 minutes to assemble and would look adorable in the center of your deviled egg tray this Easter! The egg simply gets cut with a paring knife, making the 'cracked' egg shell. The cuts can be hard to see, you might want to try to do it in one motion, without removing your knife from the egg. But if you gently push the top with your thumb, you can see the cuts. Remove the pointed top, and cut a small piece off of the bottom so the egg will sit on the tray. Make the beak out of a thin slice of carrot, I do recommend making a slit with the knife before inserting the beak into the yolk. I used two peppercorns for eyes. Wa-la, a fun little embellishment that will tickle kids of all ages:@)
And if you try the Instant Pot Dyed Eggs, those speckled whites would look really cool!

🐣Make something just for fun this Easter and have a happy day:@)

  1. They turned out so cute! I made them once, but piped the filling, and dyed the whites a pretty blue. Lots of work! This is so cute, and kids would love.
