Baby It's Cold Outside!

Hey everyone! It's been a mild winter so far in Philly, but I woke to find this yesterday morning...
A Public Service Announcement
Water freezes at 32 degrees,
broken pipes can bring you to your knees.
If you live where it gets this cold,
do your chores, no matter how old.
Fix the drips and unhook your hose,
before you're paying through the nose!
Cordially, Billy-Joe-Bob's Plumbing Service, we're in the Yellow Pages.

We now return you to your regularly scheduled blog...
Have a happy day:@)

  2. So far we've had a mild winter in Central Texas as well. We had an ice storm in Feb of last year...got iced in with snow and such...the kids missed a week of school. They would like to see that again! I would not!

  5. We've had a few freezing evenings here in SC this week also. I can hear those pipes creaking at night. Great advice. Stay warm!

  6. Thanks for that good reminder, Lynn. It was in the low teens here a few nights ago which is very cold for our area. Thankfully, the hose still hooked up out back didn't break but I will now take care of that situation. The ad is cute.----Shannon

  13. Winterizing is soooo important. It usually doesn't get that bad where we live but up at our cabin my husband uses compress air to blow out the water lines after shutting off the pump every time he leaves.
Funny how showing up late at night to a cabin full of water in the middle winter will motivate you to never forget to do this again.

  15. too cute! we deal with broken pipes here in Texas during winter too - just not as well insulated as northern climes...

  18. LOL! A little warmer today but I love the cold weather.

  19. Oh, Lynn -- how horrible. When we lived in the OLD farmhouse in Minnesota, we also left open the cupboard doors under sinks so warmer air could circulate around those pipes -- we learned.

    Blessings!

  20. ARGH.....I just left you a looooong and wonderful :) comment and when I hit "preview", it took it away and insisted I sign into Google. :( Guess I won't hit preview again!

Anyway, I told you how I hate frozen pipes, too, and how we had an outside faucet freeze when we were building this house. Ever since, I make sure we get the styrofoam covers on them as soon as we take the hoses off.

I hate to say it, but our temp is supposed to be in the MID 60s this afternoon. I will be out there exercising...just as soon as I take my nap! :) Not kidding. I just took down our real tree and I'm worn out.

I also told you, in my comment that flew away, that I copied your cabbage soup recipe. I know our weather will get nasty, snowy and cold before long (knowing Missouri, it will probably be tomorrow!! :) and that soup will be a tasty treat!

    Happy 2012!!

    Dana

  25. Or get one of those no freeze tap thingies, they work!
    Hope your pipes didn't freeze?
