- That everyone looks cuter in a Santa hat!
- The shorter time you have, the longer the line is.
- "Be of good cheer" counts everywhere except department stores! I saw a bumper sticker one Christmas that said "I know there's a Hell, I work retail".
- The more money put into marketing-creating the "demand", coincides with the less money put into creating the "supply".
- The year you decide to scale back on the outdoor Christmas lights is the same year your neighbor puts up so many he'll probably get a Christmas Card from the Electric Company!
- Christmas cookies that are a little browner on the bottom really do taste better.
- Even though kids know Santa is checking his list... there's still a lot of naughty going on!
- The string of twinkle lights only blows out after it's on the fully decorated tree.
- and most importantly... No matter how hard you try to be organized and plan ahead, this season still sneaks up on you!
Here's hoping all of your holiday prep and purchases are going smoothly.
Have a happy day:@)
Good ones! They are all so true too, especially the longer the line and the lights going out after they are on the tree. Haha! Thanks for the smiles!
ReplyDeleteMy blog today is about my youngest in a Santa hat! But Mr Earl is adorable in one as well!
ReplyDeleteI have found out numbers 1,2, and 5!
ReplyDeleteI love Santa hats. I can always pick the wrong line - lol.
And I am always off with my neighbors on lights - well I'm always off anyway so it really doesn't matter!

True, true! My hubby checks all the lights before hanging them on the house only to find out that half of them don't work once they're hung. That Murphy has a ball at Christmas!
ReplyDeleteWorking retail is such a hard job. Shoppers just treat you ugly. Been there, done that many many years ago.
ReplyDeleteSo right. I might add that an ugly cake always tastes good.
ReplyDeleteWhat purchases? I haven't started shopping because I'm too busy with other things. Guess I should start soon! Nice to see Earl, he makes a fine Santa. Hope to see you at my gingerbread themed party starting tomorrow.--Shannon
ReplyDeleteEarl sure looks cute in his Santa hat! - It never fails that one string of lights on my tree will have an annoying short..grrr! xo
ReplyDeletetoo cute! love the brown-bottom cookie one!
ReplyDeleteLynn, you do entertain me. My good cheer this year is going to come from not making such a production of the holidays. By the way, Im not sure Im cuter in a Santa hat, earrings maybe!
ReplyDeleteREALLY cute post and you are so right, everthing looks cuter with a Santa hat on.

Earl is totally a hat guy!! Loved this list Lynn :)
ReplyDeleteCHRISTmas Blessings!
Gail
WORD!!!! You nailed it. I saw a photo of a house lit up from one end to the other and then the neighbor's house had white lights strung up to spell the word DITTO. Hilarious.
ReplyDelete1) I always love Earl in a Santa hat
ReplyDelete2)They all apply and especially the last one. Still tomorrow is Dec 1st and I will be ready by Christmas, really i will! hugs, Linda
Woo-hoo - I knew that was SOMETHING sneaking up on me! Love the list and the laugh from visiting your blog.
ReplyDeleteIt is true. I don't shop Black Friday, I am the neighbor who, in response to the neighbor who goes overboard (and I have one like that!), will put up a sign saying "Ditto" with an arrow pointing towards them xo
ReplyDeleteEverything and everybody looks so festive in a Santa Hat, even Earl! You have a true gift for inviting smiles...hope all is merry and bright.
ReplyDeleteLynn,
ReplyDeleteSo true!
Earl is looking mighty fine!
Have a marvelous week - what a fun post!
Love the christmas-Earl...happy 1. december to you
ReplyDeleteWhat wonderful observations. Funny thing is none of us would give it up for any reason. Have a great day. Blessings...Mary
ReplyDeleteThose are great! So true about the lines.
ReplyDeleteSo true! Sure did enjoy the Thanksgiving riddles with the grand kids.
ReplyDeleteI'm having a giveaway. It is a great book.
Every single one is so true! And I love brown bottom sugar cookies with sprinkles : )
ReplyDeleteIt does just sneak up on you. Every year I say that I won't be rushed and I always am.
ReplyDeleteGreat choices of words that hold a lot of meaning.
ReplyDeleteYou hit the nail on the head with this one!!! Now.. how can we change this. lol.
ReplyDeleteAmen and amen! You are always so clever. The only thing that helps is to turn on Christmas music and sing along!!!
ReplyDeleteHi Lynn, I enjoyed your bit of humor tonight! Hope all is well with you and that you have a wonderful Christmas!
ReplyDeleteBlessings, Beth
So true!
ReplyDeleteThe season is certainly sneaking up on me this year. Yikes, it's December 1 already.
ReplyDeleteSo true - everyone of them - especially about the sneaking up bit!
ReplyDeleteMary x
You too! I hope the holiday season is everything you wish and hope for!
ReplyDeleteThank you for all your shared recipes this past year; you make me almost competent in the kitchen!!! ;)!
Yep! I have noticed most of them now that you mention them, especially that last one.
ReplyDeleteAnd it's nice to see your blog face!
I say AMEN to all these things! Thanks for making me smile today!
ReplyDeleteLove the naughty quote! Love all of these quotes!
ReplyDeleteLynn, I've noticed. ;-)
ReplyDeleteHi Lynn, I have not been visiting much this week because I injured both of my hands in a fall at my daughter's home last week. They put out their outdoor decorations and I tripped over a cord. It is painful to get old sometimes. No broken bones, just badly bruised on the palm of my hands. Seniors should not fall!!! HA!
ReplyDeleteLove your pig with a bit of Christmas and your list is spot on! Love the reminder that organized does not fit the Christmas season. So true!
Hugs, Jeanne
These are too cute and I noticed this very morning that ONE STRAND OF LIGHTS ARE O.U.T. on my tree. DANG IT.
ReplyDeleteHope you have a good weekend...
xoxo bj
So true...especially about the cookies! lol Happy weekend!...hugs...Debbie
ReplyDeleteSo true!..Christine
ReplyDeleteI agree with most of them, but I DO NOT like brown-bottomed cookies! My husband spent 3 hours this year, taking off and then restringing a new set of lights on the tree (we had been trying to ignore the fact that they were out the last two years!). I haven't really begun much yet -- I will most likely, like every year before be running behind! Joni
ReplyDeleteLynn~ I haven't seen that bumper sticker but if I had it would have plastered on our cars! I think a life requirement should be that everyone either has to work retail at least one Christmas season or work a shift as a breakfast waitress :)
ReplyDeletetoo,too funny...everyone of those hit home :-)
ReplyDeleteYou obviously have not seen me in a Santa hat!
ReplyDeleteDid you ever notice that people are ruder during the holiday season? Just sayin' . . .
ReplyDeleteSo true! You just put in words that made me laugh instead of cry. Thanks so much and everyone but me looks better in a Santa hat!
