I'm here to tell ya folks, not all Craigslist experiences are bad! I've been looking for one of these old ceramic Christmas trees for years and never dreamed I'd find one this big, it's 22" tall, 16" wide and three pieces. It's in beautiful condition and I can't believe I picked it up for $25!!! I love-love-love it and it will be living with me year round in my craft room. Have to say, I don't think I could have made this for $25 today... It's quite a find:@)
The woman told me her father bought a $1 raffle ticket in 1983 and won the tree. It was displayed on her mother's TV for years and sadly, her father passed away last year. They decided it was time to let go of some things and were glad someone got it that would enjoy it. All I can say is, this is something I'll have for the rest of my life and sincerely hope one of my boys wants it next.
Have a happy weekend:@)
sweet that it found you after such a great family loved it, too. :)
ReplyDeleteI have one of those as well. Just not that large.
ReplyDeleteLove it. I wish I still had my mothers
ReplyDeleteHow fun to find something that you've been searching for for a long time.

LOVE IT! So glad you found this and will treasure it!
ReplyDeletehugs,
Linda
Lynnie! How are you! Oh, I love this and it's gorgeous! I've been wanted one too for years and found one at a yard sale this spring for $2! Don't hate me. But mine is missing some of the little lights and not as big as yours! Yours is just perfect and I love it! Are you still making Barbie clothes occationally? I'm into making American Girl Doll clothes now! Hope you're doing well.
ReplyDeleteBe a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
Lynn, that's awesome! I still have my two ceramic trees that I made a thousand years ago ;o) Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteHow fun is that!! I bet they were thrilled that someone got it who would enjoy it.
ReplyDeleteLucky you! My grandparents had one and I've always loved it. Congrats on scoring something so fabulous. Lucky girl!
ReplyDeleteOh you lucky lady! My mil had one just like this and also a white pearly one. I wish I were lucky enough to find one.
ReplyDeleteYours is BEAUTIFUL, Lynn! I found one last year on eBay, finally got one after being outbid on several. :(
ReplyDeleteI think I paid $75 for it. Mine is iridescent white. Also, when cleaning out my mom's house to sell there was a green one in a box marked "Ada's ceramic tree." So now I am fortunate to have two.
I REALLY like yours. It's one of the prettiest ones I've ever seen and what a bargain!!!

What a terrific purchase!!! We had a slightly smaller version that Nick broke as a curious toddler. Maybe there's one out there for me, too :)
ReplyDeleteAwwww I'm so glad that this ceramic tree will be loved and cherished in your home year round, Lynn! I don't think I've ever seen one that big, and what a bargain. I had a small one years ago, and I don't know what happened to it. I'm so glad that you had a great Craig's List experience. I did, too, last summer, when I found a coffee table that I wanted.
ReplyDeleteHappy rest of the weekend to you!
It's adorable Lynn! I'm so glad it found a happy home~ I love that you will be enjoying it year round!

I don't think I've every seen a ceramic tree that size Lynn! I hope it brings you lots of Christmas spirit iand joy n your craft room :)
ReplyDeleteGreat find, Lynn! It looks like it's in great shape too. Is it missing a star on the top or does it not have a hole for one? You have find them at craft stores. I love the little plastic birds mixed in. My MIL used to love ceramic trees and we inherited all of them. One might be as big as yours and has three pieces but has glazed snow on the tips of the branches, and another big one that she gave to us when we were just married that has a music box inside the bottom pieces (which no longer works :(. I like to put them in all of the bedrooms during Christmas.
ReplyDeleteI have not seen them before. Looks beautiful...
ReplyDeleteHi Lynn, Congrats on your find and what a great deal!!! I looked at those on E-bay last year just out of curiosity, and they were selling for $300 and 400 dollars! I couldn't believe it! I have one that my mom made me when I moved out into my first apartment. Mine's not as big as yours, but I treasure it. I'm so glad you found the tree, and I know you'll enjoy it for years. It's so exciting when we find something we've been looking for and especially at a bargain price. :)
ReplyDeleteHave a great day, Lynn!
Hugs,
Denise at Forest Manor
I'm so happy for you! I have one that I enjoy every Christmas and I see them estate sales and they still tend to be pricey. Good for you on scooping this up!
ReplyDeleteLOVE your tree and it will bring enjoyment year round for you in your craft room! My mom had a big one like just like yours. I sold it on eBay and even thought I super packed it to avoid breakage, it didn't survive the shipping. Insurance covered it but still so sad to loose one of these older pieces :(
ReplyDeleteWe used to have one of those trees and we were just wondering where it went when we sold our parents' home. Glad you found one, and I know you will enjoy it!
ReplyDeleteI have one just like it, and it's my favorite thing to unpack each Christmas. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteI love it, too. My sweet sis in law made one years ago and I put my name on it....when she passed, I asked about it and her son told me that he wished he'd known I wanted it (wish she had written my name on the bottom) but he and his new wife sent a lot of stuff to Goodwill....another tree won't mean squat to me so I don't look for one...I wanted HERS....because I loved her so much.
ReplyDeleteSo glad you found one....
