Did you know that Corelle has a new version of it's popular
Winter Holly Pattern? For 2014 they produced a set with a red band and white veins in the holly leaves. The older Winter Holly (1991) has a green band with white veins in the leaves. While the green is a ~tad~ different, these two versions play nicely together and are great for mixing and matching! I've been looking at these dishes for years but never found them at a yard sale or thrift store and didn't want to pay ebay prices...
Target.com has a brand new set of six dinner plates with the red band for $14.99 and free shipping! Add in a few vintage bread/dessert plates and you have some very festive everyday dinnerware:@)
Corelle does have a third pattern Holly Days (1984). The two main differences are, it has black viens in the leaves and the green is a lighter color.
Personally, I'm going to try to only collect the dishes with the white veins so everything feels more like a set.
CorelleCorner.com is a good place to find info on patterns and this pic is courtesy of their site,
and there's a great article on EBAY with more holiday Corelle information HERE.
I'm thrilled to finally have some of these fun seasonal dishes, Merry Christmas: to me-from me!
Have a Happy Holly Day:@)
Now you're cooking!
ReplyDeleteBest,
Bonnie

Hi Lynnie! Oh, I like these dishes and have never seen them before! I like the ones with the white veins better too. Now what cha gonna cook up to poke onto those lovely plates?
ReplyDeleteBe a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
Those dishes are very pretty, Lynn! I like them too. You will have fun putting Christmas goodies as well as meals on these. :)
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas!
I'm thrilled for you, too, Lynn! I love the vintage look of the Corelle Christmas dishes. You're going to love getting those out every year and they'll continue to put a smile on your face. Your family is going to love them, too. This Sunday's meal is going to be special.
ReplyDeleteYea for Friday!!
It's interesting to me the subtle difference the shade and the veining makes. It's the kind of thing that I wouldn't necessarily notice until I tried to use them all together. I think I prefer the ones you are collecting. I actually just like the look of them, period. I guess because of our age we get warm fuzzies from dishes like that. At least, I do.
ReplyDeleteI have a few pieces of the older set and I'm going to order these plates! Perfect for fun seasonal dishes!!
ReplyDeletehugs,
Linda
Durn it, out of stock on line. I'll check my local Target!
ReplyDeletevery seasonal pieces
ReplyDeleteGreat buy Lynn.

Always fun to give...to oneself. They are really pretty.
ReplyDeleteThat is a great price, and the two styles look pretty together.
ReplyDeleteHappy Dishing to you Lynn, looks like you'll have fun decking the table with boughs of holly! I love me some Target :)
ReplyDeleteVery very pretty Lynn...I was totally unaware that Corelle even made Christmas dishes! I'm happy that you found more to add to your collection & will keep an eye out for the ones with the white veins in the leaves, although I have never seen these dishes around here. Ya' never know, though.
ReplyDeleteThese are so pretty! =) I use Corelle dishes and love them!
ReplyDeleteThose are super cute, Lynn, and I like the white veins on the leaves, too. I am so happy for you that you found these and at such a great price!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for the well wishes. I cannot believe I lost two months of my life and that I am having to watch it still. I am not sure if I am going to do Christmas this year, but l can always plan for next! :-) That will give me a year in advance to plan. I kinda like that thought. I have bought gifts, but I think the decorating might just go the way of the dinosaur this year. We shall see.
Sending you big hugs.
xo,
Sheila :-)
We use Corelle for every day! I would love to have some of this holiday pattern! How pretty! Hugs!
ReplyDeleteI don't think I would have noticed the black or white vein difference because the pattern is so similar, Lynn, and I love the adorable holly pattern...holiday dishes are one of my favorite parts of celebrating, using festive dishes for the month of December~Good luck on your hunt! Everyone needs a little "to me, from me" gift!
ReplyDeleteJenna
I love these Lynn -- the holly and berries are so festive. I really like the idea of mixing the sets with the red band and with the green band; it looks much more interesting that way. :) I'm really glad for you that you found these at a good price and finally treated yourself to them. Merry Christmas early!!
ReplyDeleteMy mom used Corelle dishes when we were growing up; they're so versatile. Hoping you have a great day, Lynn!
