Blingy Barbie Witch Hats from Dollar Tree Hair Clips

Here's an idea that's much easier than the one I tried last year... I love these Blingy Barbie Witch Hats from Dollar Tree Hair Clips! They're fun with the colored feathers and some silver tinsel and it couldn't be easier to turn the hair clip into a doll hat! Even better, you get three for $1. If you don't want to alter the clips you can always just slide the clip through the doll's hair (as I did with the purple one), but the idea here is to make a hat and I think any girl old enough to use scissors can do this project for herself.
I think The Girls look especially pretty with these fancy hats on... Not very witchy at all...
Actually, I kinda want one myself:@)
These clips would make cute ornaments for a Halloween tree too.
Update: In looking around the livingroom I found an owl vase that looks great sporting a hat too:@)

To make a witch hat from hair clip:
  1. The clip is held on by two dots of glue, carefully pull the glue/clip off of the felt.
  2. You'll see that the clip goes through a couple holes in the bottom of the hat, slide the clip out. Cut the slit open further, you'll need to make it as long as you can to fit over Barbie's head.
  3. Poke your finger up through the slit to puff out the top of the hat, gently stuff some cotton ball or batting into it.
  4. Dress your doll in something Halloween-y and smile.

  1. I didn't realize just how far behind I was in my reading until I started reading back on posts I had missed here. I have been a little consumed with a few things here, not the least of which was attempting to remove all the sod from our lawn manually in advance of a new drain line. (The stuff I try to do! Ugh.)

Anyway, I loved these and kept thinking how funny it is that you actually posed the Barbie models for the pictures. You are such a woman after my own heart. I'm also going to try that recipe in the previous post, maybe this weekend. I loved that football themed wedding cake topper, too. (See? Told you I was behind.)

  9. Lynn, that was very clever of you to envision hats from these hair clips, but they totally work!! They fit the Barbies perfectly, and you're right -- the girls look pretty and not witchy at all. :)

Great idea and thank you for sharing! Have a wonderful day!

  16. These remind me of the large hats worn during the time of Marie Antoinette. Just change them from witch hats to flat hats. Then they are perfect.
