What would make this even more over the top?
Adding some chopped nuts and maybe a drizzle of chocolate too.
Note: The caramel will melt into the oatmeal quickly when hot, so I'd drizzle it on at the table with the kids there. Full disclosure: The above shot was taken after the oatmeal cooled, simply for the sake of trying to get a better picture... What can I say, it's oatmeal folks, not exactly Super Model material...
Here's my first pic.
1 large apple, peeled and chopped
2 C water
1 C Old Fashioned Oats
About 4 square Kraft Caramels per bowl, unwrapped-maybe an extra 1-2, they stick to the cup
- Add apple and water to 2 quart pot with lid, bring to a boil.
- Add the oatmeal, bring to boil, reduce to simmer and cook for approximately 5-8 minutes or until desired consistency.
- Place caramels in a microwave safe cup, add a couple drops of water, microwave for a few seconds, stop and stir, repeat until melted.
- Drizzle caramel over oatmeal, serve with milk or cream.
Eat well and have a happy day:@)
Since I love the taste of caramel apples, and I love oatmeal, this looks fantastic. I wonder if you could get *almost* the same taste with some of that sugar free caramel sauce? Probably not, but I would be able to eat twice as much of it. (That's my theory, and I'm sticking to it...)
ReplyDeleteahhh, bet this is delicious. We eat the old fashioned oats about twice a week..I use brown sugar (IDEAL, SUGAR SUB), cinnamon and butter. I am sure going to give this apple/caramel a try.
