Super simple and a little different.
I love the nice subtle flavor the bacon fat adds, it's great with lots of salt!
Bacon Popcorn-from apron wearing grandmom's everywhere1/2 C popcorn
3 Tblsp bacon fat
salt to taste
crumbled crispy bacon-optional
up to 1 C shredded cheddar cheese-optional
- Add bacon fat and 3 kernels of popcorn to heavy pan with lid.
- Heat at medium-high until the kernels begin to pop, add the rest of the popcorn and shake pan.
- Keep shaking pan until the popping has slowed way down.
- Pour into a bowl and sprinkle with salt. Add bacon and cheese if desired. I desired but decided to save those calories for an ice cold... beverage:@)
Definitely kicked up a notch. I bet this won't last long and your kitchen must smell fabulous.

my dad always had an air popper ... i miss that. i just use our microwave. but like you i try to have it as a snack quite often throughout the month.
ReplyDeletei heard some sad news on the tv this AM. do you even watch the news? i wish i didn't ... so sad at times. they were saying that farmers are selling their pigs because of the bad economy so bacon/pigs will be less around our parts. is that not sad?!! a life without pigs/bacon... so very sad. what is a girl/boy to do? (:
Do not tempt me with the smell of bacon or I shall have to hurt you.
ReplyDeleteI have to have certain things with lots of salt too! I'm sure this would satisfy anybody's craving for bacon!
ReplyDeleteYum...we are big bacon eaters (sorry Earl) and popcorn 4 to 5 times a week. I just happen to have some grease and I will be using my 'Stir Crazy' popcorn popper, it should work like a charm. xo
ReplyDeleteBacon is awesome so this would have to be good!!!!
ReplyDeleteI have absolutely no doubt how good that tastes!!!!
ReplyDeleteYessssss!!!...bacon fat RULES!!

ReplyDeleteLynn,
ReplyDeleteThis sounds good! One of the great things about popcorn is that you can do so much with it!
Every time I pick my beans, (I have 4 'generations' of them in the garden) I think of you. I am still picking from my 1st planting, and they were pretty decimated from bunnies earlier this year. Keep hoping!
OMG _ the bacon fat is a brilliant. I want to try this tonight!
ReplyDeleteMy husband said to tell you, that you are a great woman. He said this as the droll run from his mouth.
ReplyDeleteOh My... that flavor combo would have never occurred to me! I hope Earl is surviving your pigskin challenge :)
ReplyDeleteHi Lynn!
ReplyDeleteBacon and popcorn...can't get any batter than that. I love them both!
Good to hear from you again. I see I'm going to get addicted to another one of your recipes.
