And in this reporter's opinion, the fresher and sharper the horseradish, the better!
Oh and, if you're going to take pictures of it, it's probably a good idea to save some bacon to sprinkle on top:@)
Bacon Horseradish Dip-an Alton Brown recipe from Men's Journal
6 slices of bacon
1/2 diced onion
1 1/2 C sour cream-I used light
3/4 C mayonnaise
1/4 tsp garlic powder
1/4 tsp white pepper-I used freshly ground black pepper
3/4 tsp kosher salt
2 Tblsp horseradish
- Fry bacon until crisp, drain on paper towel, crumble and reserve bacon fat.
- Fry onion in bacon fat until it begins to wilt. I scooped the onions onto a plate to cool.
- Mix everything well and allow to chill overnight (ha!).
Try something new for the playoffs and have a happy day:@)
you made me laugh. :)
ReplyDeleteThe HellavaGood brand of that type is DH's favorite! I'll try your version for the BIG OSU GAME on Monday! Wait till you see the cake Ms. C. & I made for it.
ReplyDeleteWhy does this statement..." in this reporter's opinion, the fresher and sharper the horseradish, the better!"...not surprise me?? LOL
Sounds like a perfect dip for watching the Cowboys or the Buckeyes, Lynn!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a very very tasty dip sauce, I probably will try this out!
ReplyDeleteWhat's not to love?? And I like you can control the heat by adjusting the horseradish, since I'm such a heat wimp :) Great football noshing!

Alton Brown does not disappoint! This dip sounds amazing!!
ReplyDeleteI love bacon! This is going on my game night list.
ReplyDeleteyou had me at bacon and horseradish!!! Love them both!!!
ReplyDeleteRavens were soooo close. ; ( Great game
Yum, sounds good Lynn. :-D I know my hubs would love this because he loves all these ingredients, including horseradish. I like the other ingredients, but I'm not wild about horseradish. I could halve the horseradish amount, and that would probably be perfect for me. :)
ReplyDeleteAre you having fun watching the football games? We're watching the Panthers and Seahawks right now. Since we live in North Carolina, we'd love to see the Panthers win, but it's a long shot for sure. I am NOT a Seahawks fan. :) Thanks for sharing the recipe and have a great weekend!
Hugs,
Denise at Forest Manor
Lynn, I'd like a big healthy dollop of your dip on top of my baked potato or potato skins too :) Stay warm!
ReplyDeleteSounds perfect for any get-together and who doesn't love bacon with Ruffles.

Lynn, this just sounds great! I would like it on the crackers I just bought recently at Publix. YUM.
