Strawberries!
Happy Pink Saturday everyone! I'm so thrilled to be sharing pictures of my strawberry plants,
they are fun and I think a little different.
What's special about these is, they bloom pink instead of white.

This is my third season with them, so pretty.
My local supermarket was selling these plants in 3" hanging baskets for $12.99 each-yikes! I told the floral manager, if you get to the point of reducing them I'll buy every one you have, but they are not worth more than $1 each to me. Less than two weeks later I walked out with 10 plants. They are everbearing, which means I get one large crop around early June then I get a nice amount of "stragglers" throughout the rest of the summer. They send runners everywhere and it's a fun challenge to "guide" them where I want them.
Nothing like walking out to the garden and eating a berry or two while enjoying the weather.
Oh, and they don't make a bad daiquiri either!
Have a happy day!
boy, I want to go shopping with you, you seem to hit it just right.
ReplyDeleteThe blooms are so pretty, I have never seen the flowers on those plants, the blooms are quite lovely. Happy harvesting in June.
You lucky girl..you know how to bargain and save a few dollars. Save me enough berries for my cereal.
ReplyDeleteThat's what I do with tomato plants, too...so expensive, but I always get a deal!
ReplyDeleteHow pretty-never saw pink strawberry flowers before-lovely to look at and anticipate the sweetness to come...
How beautiful and what a great price! I've got one strawberry in my herb garden that is almost ready to eat. I'm just waiting for it to be that perfect deep red. Hope a bird doesn't beat me to it. Happy PS!

ReplyDeleteI cannot remember seeing pink blooms on strawberry plants. One thing for sure they make a great feature for Pink Saturday. You seem to have a knack for dealing with people too.
ReplyDeletePink? Oh they simply have to taste better with pink blossoms. They just have to.
ReplyDeleteHow unusual, and so pretty! Do they taste any different than the usual strawberry plants? More intense... more PINK?

Happy Pink Saturday sweetie...
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful plants you bought. What a deal, see if they only reduce prices then they will sell them. Sometimes these stores get so greedy with prices. I am thrilled you held off and got the deal of the century. They look so healthy and beautiful. Great dealing on your part.
Can't wait to see the strawberries these produce. Thank you for sharing such wonderful beauty today. Made my heart sing sweetie.
Have a beautiful Pink Saturday filled with happiness and sunshine. Country hugs, Sherry

OMGosh..this brings back great memories...when I was a kid, my mom always planted strawberries..she planted them on little hills and my brother and I would go out, pick a few, wipe the dirt off and sit right there in the garden and eat them. My mom would just smile...pretty sure she planted them just for us to enjoy out there, together.
ReplyDeleteWow, I would love to have some plants...think I'll check into it tomorrow. Is it too late to plant them?
wow - that's beyond a great bargain. Pretty pink blooms and strawberries all season long! :) Nancy
ReplyDeleteYou did get a great buy!! Our supermarket would have kept that high price on them right up until they died and dumped them in the trash! Hope you had a great Pink Sat!!! dana
