What's the one thing that seems to have helped my potted plants grow the best? Sticking Dollar Store forks into the dirt to deter critters! I don't know if it was a squirrel or bird but after I mentioned my jalapeno was picked at HERE, the critter came back and snipped all the leaves off. Once I replaced the plant I took some advice bloggy buddy Tex-Wis Girl gave me and planted some forks too! Maybe not the friendliest looking planter, but I have big plans for that little tomato off to the left:@)
I did start sprinkling everything with cayenne pepper too, I'm sure that didn't hurt either...
I must do this! I have been battling critters all week. Thanks Lynn!
ReplyDeleteWhat a clever idea and I'm definitely going to give it a try. We had some critter eat the heads off of some of our marigolds if you can imagine. Who the heck eats marigolds ???

Thanks for passing along the fork idea, Lynn. I'm going to try this as something is even eating at a few of my succulents that are in pots. Your veggie pot is looking good! Happy weekend to you.
ReplyDeleteI've been fighting a squirrel in my clematis, wonder if this would work? Looks nice a healthy.

What a great idea to keep those critters away!!!
ReplyDeleteI will have to share this idea with my son in law! They have critters after their garden and this might just help!
ReplyDeletehugs, Linda
i can't take credit for the idea - i just passed it along from another blogger pal that used it to protect her pots of seeds and plants. hoping it works for you!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the tip. I'll have to try the fork thing. I have critters that dig in my flower pots and destroy the newly planted flowers and herbs. I have used cayenne pepper already, but the forks will help too! Thanks.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great tip, makes perfect sense, will be trying this as the critters can wipe everything out very quickly.
ReplyDeleteI have a TON of plastic forks that I'm going to go dig out right this minute...what a smart idea & we'd be recycling too!! Thanks for passing this one on, Lynn.
ReplyDeleteWhat a terrific tip!!!
ReplyDeleteThat's a good idea.
ReplyDeleteMerle........

ReplyDeleteCritters are definitely a problem! Thanks so much for linking up with me at #AThemedLinkup 16 for Gardening, open April 30 to May 10. All entries shared if social media buttons are installed.
ReplyDeleteClever idea! I'm in Week 1 of planting my vegetable garden and the critters have already attacked (sigh....) Trying to find different ways to outsmart them this year. I'll keep this in mind - and I already have a lot of plastic forks stored in the closet! (post seen through Grammy's Grid)
