Jean Pocket Potholders-Embellishing Dollar Store Potholders

Here's a really cute idea to dress up Dollar Store potholders (2 for $1.00), simply cut out the back pocket of an old pair of jeans and sew it on! I chose to pink the edges but think they will be really cute when the fabric begins to naturally fray too.
My inspiration was a tutorial for pocket potholders HERE, but I decided to go a with slightly different idea. What I love about starting with a potholder is, it's easy to sew around the seam that's already on the binding, you don't have to worry about sewing in a straight line! I think this is a fun idea especially as we're coming into yard sale season and jeans can be picked up easily. The button is totally optional:@)

Tip: If using purchased pot holders make sure you wash and dry them first in case they shrink.

  14. I happen to have a pair of jeans belonging to that husband of mine just pleading to be tossed in the trash. I need to remember to take off the pockets first. Very cute idea!

  17. Wonderful idea! I always want to buy pot holders, oven mitts etc. from the dollar store, but stop myself from doing so, since one can only use so many potholders. This would be a great excuse to buy some though! Lol.
