Not the prettiest for pics, but mighty tasty!
What has me in the need of comfort right now???
I went outside to mow the lawn and was attacked by wasps!
Luckily they just kept flying into my head to scare me away (it worked) and I didn't get stung.
When I looked up I noticed this...
I just about had a heart attack!!!
Needless to say this is not a project for me, I had to call an exterminator.
Hopefully by the time I get home from work today, it will be taken care of.
As my G-Mom-B used to say "never a dull moment", ugh.
1 C elbow macaroni, cooked, drained and cooled under cold water-I use 1/2 whole wheat mac
1 (5oz) can tuna fish drained-I like albacore in water
about 1/8 C diced onion
1 medium carrot peeled and shredded
1 stalk celery, diced
sliced green olives, as many as you'd like-I, um, like them-lots
A few shakes of celery seed
Just the slightest shake of garlic powder
Lots of fresh ground black pepper
Seasoned salt to taste-I use Lawry's Cracked Black Pepper Seasoned Salt
Just enough mayo to cover everything about 1/3 C
-Mix all and enjoy!
Have a happy day:@)
I'd completely forgotten about macaroni and tuna salad that I loved as a child. Thanks for the reminder!! That is one huge wasp nest. I can only imagine how many "tenants" it holds!!
ReplyDeleteBest,
Bonnie
Ohhhh man! What a creepy nest! Once my husband unknowingly turned over a bee nest while working on the yard and was stung over 50 times. It was ugly!!
ReplyDeletemy mom used to make tuna Mac salad...I haven't had it since ive been married. I may have to make myself some soon! Happy Wednesday
I actually gasped TWICE during this post. First at the idea of a cold tuna noddle salad - brilliant. And then at that wasp nest. Scary. They have been esp bold this year around here so hoping they are gone, gone gone when you get home.
ReplyDeleteThat's some nest! I do hope it's gone by the time you get home.
ReplyDeleteI love Tuna/Macaroni salad. I've never had it like this though but since I love olives I'll have to give it a try. My favorite way is to add cucumbers and tomatoes to it. A perfect summer, comfort salad!
Green olive are a great addition. I love mac/tuna salad too.
ReplyDeleteI love tuna and mac salad! I add tomatoes as well! That nest is scaaaaaryyyy!
ReplyDeleteThe salad looks good and creamy. Stuffed green olives always adds a little something extra to creamy salads. I always toss a few in my potato salad. Wasps are so nasty. I think their stings are worse than regular bee stings.
ReplyDeleteMmmmmmmmmmmmm sounds like a perfect summer salad to me. I love the addition of olives. I hope the wasp problem has been taken cake of. We get those nests, too.
ReplyDeleteOOOOOoooo, I think that is a hornets nest...really nasty indeed! I am glad you are having someone come and take care of it. Here is a hint I heard. If you paint the underside of the roof light blue, the wasps/hornets won't make nests there. We did it on the chicken coop and so far so good..love how we did it for the chickens but not for our house..hummm?
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen tuna salad in years, I remember it being a regular summer dish when I was a child..thanks! xo
Lynn, my favorite is mac salad, anything you can throw in it is usually just fine by me. Tuna mac is something I crave often. Yummmmmmmy! Wow, that is a nice sized hive, I had one similar it was wasps!! I had to get an exterminator too. Good luck! xo
ReplyDeleteThat is one big nest!! They are wicked little things, aren't they?
ReplyDeleteI've never had this salad, maybe something similar with crab meat. I like the addition of the olives!
XO,
Jane
Oh my goodness, that looks like a hornet's nest from it's shape. Run inside and eat your salad!
ReplyDeleteSam
Yikes, I'm glad you're OK!!! And this macaroni salad of yours is definitely comfort food :)
ReplyDeleteI've never had tuna in pasta salad, but yours looks good!
ReplyDeleteYou're very lucky about the wasps. Once when my brother was a teenager, he accidently ran over a nest of wasps or bees when he was on our riding mower. He got stung like 72 times and had to seek medical attention. Glad you are getting that taken care of immediately.
This looks like a nice summertime dinner, Lynn.
ReplyDeleteThat is one giant wasp nests! I hope the exterminator was able to remove it successfully!
Wasps! Shudder. I am NOT a fan!
ReplyDeleteI am, however, a fan of macaroni salad. I haven't made anything like this in a long while. I think I have all the ingredients to whip this up for lunch tomorrow!
Yum!
Hope your stings are feeling better.
That nest is quite a specimen! Maybe they could get all the wasps out and give the nest to you! Very interesting.
ReplyDeleteI love your macaroni tuna! This looks so good to me! YUMMY!
Glad you were not stung!
This is a great salad for summer and after a wasp attack! Glad you weren't stung...big nest! I love green olives so I add them to most any macaroni salad. I think I'll be making some of this soon! Hugs, Linda
ReplyDeleteThe green olives are great idea!I love tuna salad.
ReplyDeleteThat was a close call, I'm always amazed at the intricacies of those nest. Nature never ceases to amaze me. I'm glad you weren't stung, that would not have been good at all. Tuna/mac salad is one of my favorites too, love the idea of adding olives. I hope those pesky wasp were gone by the time you got home.
ReplyDeleteLynn~ That looks like a hornets nest! You are in serious need of comfort, maybe the liquid kind too :) Glad you weren't stung!
ReplyDeleteHuge nest. Scary. Funny we just had the same issue. A very busy nest behind shingles of the house all the way into the wall! All gone now. Would have liked a nice plate of your macaroni salad for some comfort. Especially after I got the bill :)
ReplyDeleteI'd be scared out of my MIND! And then I'd go eat the entire bowl of this mac salad! Love the addition of carrots and green olives! My kind of macaroni salad! Glad you escaped the wasps!
ReplyDeleteAgradable receta muy saludable me encanta sus ingredientes,hugs.hugs.
ReplyDeleteNow I think the mac-tuna-salad is pure delightful delish lookn',but that hornet's nest has got to go!!
ReplyDeleteI've never had this combination, where have I been:) Looks like you have two good things to come home to; no bees and a yummy macaroni salad!
ReplyDeleteIf you end up with two comments from me, my laptop is acting goofy! My all time favorite salad is tuna pasta salad. Mine is very plain though - love yours!
ReplyDeleteI love anything with pasta and this looks like a great recipe!!
ReplyDeleteAnd I definitely would not be messing with that thing either!! Yikes!
Hugs,
Deb
The pasta salad sounds yummy!! The hornest would have made me scream and then get stung for screaming. Good Night Irene, I hope they got that took care of.
ReplyDeleteI just love pasta salad! I can make one and eat on it all week. The kids - not so much - but I don't let that stop me. This looks so nice too. I would love to try the jalapenos too!
ReplyDeleteWell, I think your pasta snap looks wonderful! Yummy! Oh, my goodness! You get someone to knock that scary nest down and then run really fast! :)
ReplyDeleteBe a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
This is one of our favorite summertime meals but I've never added green olives! I'll try that next time...sounds very yummy! Enjoy your weekend...stay safe!
ReplyDeleteYikes, and you took a pic of it! I remember when I was a kid people waited till dusk and then torched them. Probably a few accidental fires too!
ReplyDeleteGlad you didn't get stung. What a bummer to have to pay for that!
The salad looks good! I'll pick out the olives and fling them on to your plate! :)
Humid enough for you? Tornado touched down on LI today!
This looks really good. Our cold, go-to salad is Chicken Salad. Haven't made anything with tuna in ages. Must try this soon. I don't do any fish but Mr. Sweet likes it.
ReplyDeleteI HATE WASPS...
Love macaroni salad. My mom made it a lot when I was a kid. I'll have to try your version.
ReplyDeleteJust what I was looking for!! Thanks
