Curious About Cantaloupe...

As we're coming into cantaloupe season, inquiring minds want to know... do you salt yours or not?

While I do enjoy a nice ripe one au naturale, I did grow up eating it salted and love that too!
For my Friday night snack I used Chipotle Sea Salt-very nice with cheese and crackers!

Earl prefers his unsalted
"huh? were you talking to me?"

How about you?
Have a happy weekend:@)

  1. I prefer my melon just plain, but ice cold. I have never tried it with salt. I will have to try a slice sprinkled with a little salt.

  5. Thanks for stopping by Slice of Pie! I eat my melon with and without salt! When it is really hot outside ... like the 108 in Southern Illinois today ... I crave it with salt!

  7. What a cute photo of Earl. Just found out he has a long lost sister, too. I eat my 'loupes unsalted, but have tasted it with and it does make it seem sweeter. Keep cool this weekend. xo

  10. Not on cantaloupe but yes on watermelon sometimes. I rarely add salt after cooking or on raw veggies or fruits-it is the nurse in me I fear.

P.S. Thanks for your comment. I smiled when you wrote you had 4" of space...It's a skill to pack the fruit.

  21. Just curious....is salting it an east coast thing? Only ask because growing up in the east my dad salted both cantaloupe and watermelon, I followed his model and did the same. I haven't seen that as a practice in the west. Grandma also sprinkled a bit of sugar on tomato slices...but I am thinking that was just to get me to eat the tomato!
