While I do enjoy a nice ripe one au naturale, I did grow up eating it salted and love that too!

I prefer my melon just plain, but ice cold. I have never tried it with salt. I will have to try a slice sprinkled with a little salt.

ReplyDeleteNot on cantaloupe but yes on watermelon sometimes. I rarely add salt after cooking or on raw veggies or fruits-it is the nurse in me I fear.

My Grandma introduced me to salt on cantaloupe so sometimes I want that taste just to remind me of her. : )

ReplyDeleteJust curious....is salting it an east coast thing? Only ask because growing up in the east my dad salted both cantaloupe and watermelon, I followed his model and did the same. I haven't seen that as a practice in the west. Grandma also sprinkled a bit of sugar on tomato slices...but I am thinking that was just to get me to eat the tomato!
