The weather's been "funny" here in Philly. Oddly hot in March, then really cool and wet this whole week, until 80 degrees today. So, I'll share my first peonies of the season, but I think they are a bit confused...
I bought two twigs in a box at Walmart four years ago that were reduced to $2. I had no idea what to expect. Well, these peonies are called "Bowl of Beauty" and are really spectacular! This is one twig from the box, the second one blooms later, same color, but looks different - how fun!
This is what they looked like before Mother's Day
and this is what they look like today, May 14th.
So they lasted pretty long this year,
even through Mother Nature's fickleness!
Oh, and see those buds in the background, round two... oh yea!!!
Please stop by Beverly's to check out the other fun pics! I've also linked up to Garden Bloggers Bloom Day, and Bloomin Tuesday, there are lots of beautiful flowers over there!

I didn't know that you live near Philadelphia! I live in Lancaster County, just about 1 1/2 hours away. I love to go into Philly! And we are the biggest Philly sports fans. We often go to the Phillies and Eagles games! GO PHILLY!
ReplyDeleteNow about your wonderful peonies! They are one of my very favorite flowers. And yours look like huge pink saucers. So very very very beautiful. And for 2 sticks, they have done wonderfully!
To answer your vinegar question- this does work with any herbs, as far as I know.
Just a hint- if you use garlic, thread it on a small skewer or toothpick- it's just easier that way.
