Hey everyone! Since I cut a lot of recipes in half the boys gave me the KitchenAid 3 quart bowl and mini whip for Christmas-
thanks guys! I've used it a few times now and it does work fine. Is it as good as the bigger bowl and paddle for batters? I don't think so, you definitely need to use higher speeds to get everything mixed together. I do like the smaller size however, and will keep testing it on different recipes.
I'm most excited about trying it for egg whites, the reviews were very good for that.
I see Lemon Meringue Pie in the near future:@)
Have a happy day!
Updated-I did use it to make my Lemon Meringue Pie here.
Worked great!
You will love your new toy! I love mine! I do recommend, if it will fit yours, getting the paddle with the scrapers on it. I don't know why they don't just include it with the mixers! Love it!
ReplyDeleteGoing to do a little research project today! Also need to find out about paddles with scrapers....Blogging can be costly.
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend.
Carol
Your boys are so sweet! I am always meaning to look at the attachments for my KitchenAid but forget. I know they have a lot of neat things!
ReplyDeleteXO,
Jane
Lucky you. Can you imagine what it will do for whipped cream..
ReplyDeleteI didn't even know they had that! I will be very interested in you sharing how the egg whites work out..also, bet it will be great for smaller amounts of whipped cream...Very interesting. xo
ReplyDeleteHi! It's great having the right sized tools for certain jobs - it can make all the difference.
ReplyDeleteI am all about using the right tool for what you are doing in the kitchen. When Joe pulls out a wee little knife to chop an onion I hand him the proper knife and give him the look he says. Must be fun being married to me. Have fun with your new accessory.
ReplyDeleteLucky you. Your boys are very thoughtful but I bet they also had their tummies in mind as well :)) Diane
ReplyDeleteSo much fun to have new gadgets! Have a great weekend whipping up something yummy.
ReplyDeleteOh how nice of your boys. Looks like you'll be whipping up a storm with your new toy!

Wonderful!!! Hope you are enjoying your new fangled kitchen contraption.
ReplyDeleteNice gift! Keep on cooking!
ReplyDeleteIt is so cute! I want one :). Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteWhat a nice gift! Didn't know they had a smaller bowl, looks like a great idea!
ReplyDeleteVery cool! I can think of lots of quick things to use it for. I still don't think I'd have room on my counter to leave it out all the time. I need a bigger counter, huh?
ReplyDeleteI store my big SunBeam Mixer in the pantry...it's handy, but I know I'd do more baking if it were out. Thanks for the review...sure was a neat gift.
This size would be better for me than the big one I have, sitting in my closet as it just takes up too much space (I do so much by hand and using an old hand mixer!!) Enjoy. xo
ReplyDeleteI am so jealous (in a nice way!) - Have fun with it. sandie
ReplyDeleteVery nice! Enjoy your new toys :)
ReplyDeleteThat was nice of the boys. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteAll the goodies you can make. I have had mine in the closet for over a decade. I really should pull it out.
ReplyDeleteI didn't even know that the Kitchen Aide offered a smaller bowl and whip! Good to know.
ReplyDeleteOh, some days I hate blogger...I had a really great comment all done and then... it messed with my head. Told me I wasn't signed it and still wouldn't give me anything after all that...sigh..
ReplyDeleteI was telling you how I can't wait to get a new KitchenAid.. because I was an idiot and gave my little old one (Snow White) to my brother. I wanted something with a larger motor to make sure it didn't break down mixing bread doughs.... silly me. This CuisineArt is noisy, chunks and grinds along at slow speed and there is way too much bowl bottom scraping necessary as the beaters don't reach there ....
My brother is still happily mixing all his bread doughs with little Snow White who is happily still whirring quietly along....arrgghhhh....
Hi Dear,
ReplyDeletea smaller bowl sounds interesting. I have only a big Kenwood food processor. But your look really good. Happy cooking.
best greetings, Johanna
Thanks for the FYI on this product. It's always nice to have someone else's opinion before buying something.
ReplyDeleteLynn, you are always up on the latest trends and gadgets. I also didn't know there was a small bowl available. Looks like it would be useful for mixing small amounts. Let me know when the lemon pie comes out of the oven.....
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend.--Shannon
Oh, lemon meringue is my favorite. Send me a slice. ~ Sarah
ReplyDeleteIt's so cute! Like a mini-mixer!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun new toy and made in USA too! :))
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your new toy!
ReplyDeleteI got dh the scraper beater for Cmas. That and a roof rake! Thank God he didn't need it...so far anyway!
The boys always get you the greatest gifts.
