Valentine's Day Table Runner!

Hi everyone-Happy Weekend after a very long week! I wanted to make a Valentine's table runner and was thrilled to use some of my favorite fabrics from my stash.

Love the little yo-yo's with the heart sequin and pearl in the middle.
Any simple suggestions for a non-quilter about how to finish this piece?
Earl blushes and stammers "hi"...
after so many lovely offers to be his Valentine he's feeling quite bashful.

It's Fresh Cut Friday so I treated myself to some beautiful white tulips!

    Hi Lynn,
    I just love your table runner, it's so colorful!
    You did a wonderful job. I like it the way it is, but if you want to finish it off just sew "X's" on each square and put a layer of batting behind it.

    You have created a beautiful tablescape.

    I love your runner! The way that I have seen non-quilted quilts quilted is with buttons or little yarn knots .... But it looks cute just the way it is! :)

    Your table runner is so cheerful! I love it! I think it looks perfect just like it is. You may have already done this, but if you sew the cute little yo yo's all the way through to the other side that will hold the piece all together just like quilting would.     Quilters know that the actual quilting process is what holds the layers of fabric together. Your yo-yos were an excellent choice where the 4 fabrics meet, (the + spot). Even putting a yo-yo in the center of each block would have been pretty. Some quilters use hand or machine stitching in the seams (called stitching in the ditch). It is usually invisible. I know gals who use fancy zig-zag or other machine stitching over the seams, or they just tack the fabrics together using several strands of embroidery floss or crochet cotton. Some even use buttons. I recall someone sewing rick rack to cover seams and that held the fabrics together. There are many options, and of course the main one is to pull out a big embroidery hoop and some quilting thread, a quilting needle and thimble then hand quilt using a running or basting stitch. With practice and in time your stitches will be uniform and lovely ♥

    What a beautiful share this evening. I love this table runner. It is just exquisite, and the use of the yo-yo(s) was so clever.

    I am not a quilter, but I think I would get out my embroidery hoop and quilt stitch a heart on each square. It will keep your pieces together and give it a little pattern. If you used the thread color of each square, then it would be a design on the square, you know not a color that would show up. It would be beautiful.

    Your tablerunner is so cheerful and pretty. Love the little yoyos. You really don't have to do anything else to it unless you want to. If you have more of the yoyos or just some buttons, you could handstitch some on at the intersections of your squares, but do it randomly, not every one. Then it would be too busy. Love the tulips and the vase.

    I have made quilted table runners for my little kitchen table where we eat each night. I have them for the different seasons and just love using them. Your is precious and the yo-yo’s add a dear little touch. The tulips just set it all off perfectly. HPS.
