Cherry Magic Cookie Bars

As soon as I saw the pretty color of these Cherry Magic Cookie Bars I had to make them! They are super simple and very tasty, especially if you like maraschino cherries:@) The recipe calls for pouring the sweetened condensed milk over the crust but I chose to pour it over everything, it's just a little extra insurance for me that everything will stick together. Poking a few green M&M's into the top once they're out of the oven would make them even more festive...
These cookies were a big hit at dinner on Sunday, I think you'll like them if you try them folks!

Cherry Magic Cookie Bars-from culinary.net
1 1/2 C graham cracker crumbs
1/2 C butter, melted
14 oz can sweetened condensed milk
1 C semi-sweet chocolate chips-I use Ghirardelli
10 oz jar maraschino cherries, drained well, chopped and patted dry
1 1/3 C coconut
  1. Mix graham cracker crumbs and butter, pat into bottom of a 9x13 dish (I lined mine with Reynolds Release).
  2. I mixed the chocolate chips, cherries and coconut in a bowl and sprinkled it evenly over the crust.
  3. Then I covered everything with the milk making sure some went to the edges of the baking dish.
  4. Bake at 350 degrees (325 if using a glass dish) for about 25 minutes or until golden brown.
  5. Cool well before slicing. Store covered at room temperature.
Eat well and have a happy day:@)

  22. I wish I liked sweet cherries but I do love a good tart cherry. I'll bet they would work too but not be quite as beautiful as yours.
