Table for One-Pondering Thanksgiving

Hi everyone-Happy Tablescape Thursday! Today I set a table to help me get in the mood to create my lists and decide exactly what I want to do for Thanksgiving. I've mentioned my infatuation with Johnson Bros a few times, I love this plate!
Autumn Monarch

This year my Thanksgiving dinner mantra is "controlled abundance".
I'm going to try to have a variety of festive sides, but not go too crazy. A list should help!
We'll see how that plays out.
Have a happy day:@)

Today I'm thankful for the everyday things we take for granted until we don't have them.
The best example, a day without electricity!

  1. I too love Johnson Bros. and Autumn Monarch. Funny thing is, not buying Autumn Monarch has been part of my controlled abundance! LOL!

  2. I love combining the red with the turkey. That plate is just wonderful.

This Christmas I am trying to do the same thing, really staying away from a lot of the stores that are my weakness - just picking up more decor that I don't need and haven't a place to put it. I am right in the middle of organizing that storage and it does help!

  3. Your table setting just lovely. I'm also a fan of Johnson Bros. I have a set of the brown transferware. Controlled Abundance--I'm going to have to remember that one.

  5. I like that! "Controlled Abundance". I think I'll start some list making and follow your lead.

And I like that Turkey plate with the red accent dishes. I don't have a single plate with a turkey on it.

    Um, yet...........

  6. Darling turkey dish, Lynn. No matter what you do for Thanksgiving, I know I will like it. Sides are the best part anyway, and too much is too much. I am going to keep our Thanksgiving celebration simple. We may even go out, although the thought of that is ugh. All of our kids are going to their in-laws and we are planning to eat turkey on top of packing boxes!!!

  7. Controlled abundance...I hear ya!! I love Johnson Brothers, too and have some bits and pieces. The turkey plates will be perfect and I think they look good with red.

You are ahead of the game, I don't even know who is coming for dinner [besides Mr. Turkey!}.

    XO,
    Jane

  9. Lynn,
Controlled abundance is a wonderful concept! We are cutting back this year on the holiday foods. I think I just want creamed onions and cranberry sauce. Maybe a little stuffing....

    Love the Johnson Brothers china.

  10. Beautiful setting! I cut back on side dishes last year, and it still felt perfectly Thanksgiving-y. I'm not much of a list maker, but I can appreciate that it can be a very good idea! When I do "to do" lists, I always go back and add things I forgot to put on the list ... that I've done -- just so I can cross them off the list! ;)

Have a great rest of the week!

  15. Beautiful plates! I like the idea of "controlled abundance". We are joining a group of friends for Thanksgiving. My charge is to bring pies. Pumpkin, pecan, and perhaps one other. ;-)

  17. We have such a tradition at Thanksgiving, that I never have to wonder what I will be having. We pretty much have the same each year..my kids are as bad as the young grands when it comes to having just that certain thing they look forward to all year. :)
I fix the turkey/dressing/and trimmings/desserts, hot rolls and etc....
the girls bring the veggies, drinks and dips.
Gosh, I am making my silly self hungry..:)
    Your dishes are beautiful.

  36. Love your garnet glassware. I am beginning to collect it when I see a piece while out thrifting. I only have a hodgepodge of pieces, but they are beautiful.

  39. Now that there are just 3 of us (my son usually shows up) for Thanksgiving, I never know what to do. Last year we picked up Cracker Barrel:) Isn't that awful. It is just crazy to prepare that huge meal for 3 people and truthfully, CB makes a really great meal. I'm getting used to strange holidays around our house. I do love those plates, I don't have Thanksgiving dishes.

  40. Lynn, out of all the transferware, I think I like the turkey ones the best. I too agree with you, I mentioned central heating in my post today! Just the little things that make life easier. I hope you have the best day. Joni

  44. Hello,
I am a bit late but I come. Nice idea to treat yourself with a pretty table for planning the Thanksgiving dinner. Very inspirating! I guess, Mr. Pudge is very satisfied NOT to see a pig as plates decor. The ruby glassware is so beautiful, even without wine. Love the tender lace runner and the mums. Very nice table. I would love to dine so. Wish you a very nice Thangsgiving.
    Greetings, Johanna

  46. I love Johnson Brothers too--there are so many beautiful patterns and so little storage space :) "Controlled abundance" is a wonderful term. I tend to go overboard every year too--and I have a list! My list is just too abundant :)

  47. I love that...controlled abundance! Those turkey plates are among my favorites.

  48. Lynn, let me know how that controlled abundance goes. I always over-cook for holidays. My mantra is that I'd rather have too much than have someone ask if there is any more of something, and there isn't. Love those J.B. proud turkey plates. I'd love to find a good buy on a set of those. laurie
