Simply roll pie dough between your fingers and the counter into a thin "rope",
shape it into letters and arrange them on the upper crust.

every time you post a pie - ANY pie - it is just plain edible ART!!! pie is probably my favorite dessert, and yours are just beautiful. :)
ReplyDeleteI love apple pie but rarely have it since Hubby does not care for it and I would have to eat the whole thing myself... which isn't really a problem of course... LOL
ReplyDeleteYour blog needs a disclaimer warning people to wear a bib to control all the drooling your recipes and pics cause. Pie. MMMmmmmm.
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday pie - looks great - is it anyone's birthday!!! Sandie
ReplyDeleteI love birthday pie!!!!
ReplyDeleteI am torn. The birthday pie looks delicious but I see your strawberry frosting on cake right beside this comment and can't choose. May I have both please?
ReplyDeleteBirthday pie works for me- of course, I need pie and cake. ;)
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute idea, Lynn!!!!
ReplyDeleteFruit pies are especially delicious this time of the year!
How fantastic, Lynn. What a cute and different idea. Apple pies are so good anyway you serve them but especially with a little twist..Happy Monday..Judy
ReplyDeleteMy middle son always asks for birthday pie- love it! :)
ReplyDeleteAdorable idea Lynn, my hubby would prefer pie! Hope I didn't miss the chance to send you Happy Birthday wishes :)
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking this feels very patriotic with the star too Lynn. Remember your letter cutters you bought, I like your rolled letters here even better. I'm pinning it to my cooking tips board. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteGreat idea! And thanks for linking me to the give-away. I would have hated to miss my chance to win!
ReplyDeleteBlessings, Debbie
Well, I would always rather have pie than cake, so this is a fine idea. :) In the Midwest we used to say "happier than a dead pig in the sunshine" - but I never understood that one. Yours makes sense. :)
ReplyDeleteThis is too much fun! What a fabulous idea!
ReplyDeleteI used to decorate my pies with leaves and such ( with the leftover dough ) and then...where I worked, we always had pies versus cakes for our birthday office celebrations, so you and I are on the same page! :)
ReplyDeleteYup, I'd rather have apple pie than cake!
ReplyDeleteI would absolutely pick a homemade sourcherry pie for my birthday than any cake!
ReplyDeleteThat looks so good! Love how you made the letters too! I have those little abc cutters and they are a nuisance to use!
