Pig Candy-Great Snack or Burger Topper!

Oh yea, you read that right, Pig Candy! What is Pig Candy? Basically it's bacon that's been rubbed with brown sugar and spices then cooked either on the grill or in the oven. Some recipes call for basting it with maple syrup as it cooks too. However you choose to make it-it's yummy:@)
I don't have a grid baking rack so I used the jalapeno popper rack my son gave me to cook the bacon on the grill. It was a Saturday and I was just cooking for myself so it worked out really well!
I'm sure Pig Candy would be a big hit with any crowd (especially if guys are involved), it's sweet, salty, smoky and has a touch of heat if using the cayenne. I read it's a common snack during professional BBQ contests. It firms up once off the grill and while it stays a little sticky... That's part of the the yum:@)

Pig Candy-from Nibble Me This-click to see his complete burger-absolutly amazing!
1 lb smoked bacon-thick slice is recommended, I used regular
1/2 C turbinado or brown sugar-I used brown sugar
1 tsp BBQ rub or 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper-I used the cayenne
  1. Mix the sugar and spices. Thoroughly coat the bacon.
  2. Place on a grid baking rack over a sheet pan that's covered in foil or parchment for easy clean up.
  3. Cook bacon at 375 degrees in oven or on grill until golden brown and cooked through. I did turn mine a couple times on the grill.
  4. Remove from heat, let firm up and enjoy!
Have a happy day:@)

  3. I love the name, Lynn! I have baked bacon with brown sugar and loved it, but never put those seasonings on it. That sounds delicious with the BBQ seasoning. Your burger looks wonderful and perfect for just special YOU!
