Barbie Hammock from Hanger, Popsicle Sticks and Triple Crochet-Tutorial

Have you noticed that Barbie's been absent from the blog for a while? That's because she's been enjoying summer and chilling on her new hammock! Just hanging out, catching some rays and waiting for Pablo the pool boy to bring her a nice cold drink:@) Yea, I gotta figure out how to get THAT life! This Barbie Hammock comes together pretty quickly and if you don't crochet the hammock can be made from material or even woven.

Crochet Hammock:
Basically you're aiming for a long rectangle that's a little wider than the popsicle stick.
ch 16-I used a J hook
TC in first hole and all the way across.
*Ch3, turn and TC across.
Repeat from * until it's long enough for the hammock, approximately 14 rows (it will stretch).
Run a popsicle stick (or twig) through every other hole on each end. Hot glue the last loop on the back of each side.

 Barbie's looking a little... stiff... I think she could really use that drink:@)

Hammock Stand from Hanger:
With sturdy wire cutters, carefully cut the top off of the hanger.

Straighten out curved part of hanger with pliers, then tape the overlapping ends together.

Make a bend in each end, it should stand up about 3".

Attach the hammock to the stand by sewing yarn through the middle loops on the hammock, go around the Popsicle stick and over and under the hanger. Tie a knot and weave in all the loose yarn ends. I also hot glued it in place so it wouldn't slide down the hanger.

Now, I'm not suggesting that this is going to be a hand me down heirloom piece of doll house furniture... What it is though, is a fun little rainy day project that a girl can help make.
