I used my brownie pan, now you know I love my kitchen toys but I'll be honest and say this is one I wouldn't buy again. You need to use too much spray and it's a pain to wash by hand. Just this reporter's opinion. Tip: A toothbrush helps clean all of those right angles.
For the brownies just mix up one box of your favorite brand and pour it into whatever pan you're using.
Cream Cheese Filling
1 C powdered sugar
4 oz cream cheese
food coloring gel
-Mix the first two until smooth, separate into bowls and make each one the color you'd like.
-Put a teaspoon full (a real teaspoon not a measuring tsp) in the center of each brownie and bake as directed.
Notes:
- My brownie pan makes 18 brownies, I split this filling between two bowls and used almost all of both colors on six brownies each. I left six plain knowing they'd be the ones my boys reached for:@) I think you could easily make this amount of filling work for 18 brownies.
- They will puff up, but as the brownies cool they'll settle down.
- This is a cream cheese filling and not cheese cake filling, there is no egg. I don't know if cheese cake filling works, but don't see why it wouldn't.
The brownies look ghoulishly delicious!! The rat adds just the right touch.
ReplyDeleteBest,
Bonnie

ReplyDeleteAnother great idea for a kid's Halloween party. The color held up really well!
ReplyDeleteYour boys remind me of my son, he's always saying "I know it's on the blog". :) These are so fun for Halloween!! I am envious you get to share Sunday dinner with your boys, mine is too far away.
ReplyDeleteI'm surprised the colors didn't bleed through the brownies. These would be fun with a candy eyeball stuck in them after baking!
ReplyDeleteYour brownies look frightfully Good! Pat
ReplyDeleteHow original! I wonder if they would look like 'eyes' if you'd left the cream cheese white & then added a glint of white icing to the chocolate drop? Just thinkin' out loud.
ReplyDeleteI bet they tasted WONDERFUL!!!
love the brownie recipe
