Decorating Pen Review

Hi everyone! Thanks so much for your kind words and well wishes, life is slowly getting back to normal:@) It dawned on me that I promised to do a comparison and share my thoughts on a couple decorating pens I tried.

I fell into a great Williams-Sonoma on-line sale where the pens were marked down to
99¢ with free shipping, so I grabbed a few. Kathleen if you're out there...
please don't tell me they're 29¢ -buy one get one free- every day at the outlet!!!
Tip: Every time they ask you for your e-mail address at the store give it to them. They say the more often you buy, they e-mail better specials to you. I've seen a big difference!

I also found these from Cake Mate on clearance for 50¢ at Walmart after Christmas.

My cookies, using the Message Cookie Cutters from W-S.
Williams-Sonoma:

Cake Mate:

My thoughts: No doubt about it, the quality of the W-S pens is far superior. It stays shiny and I think it tastes a bit like chocolate too. Make sure you heat them up on the hot water as directed, that is key.
You can't be too detailed with the Cake Mate pens. They would be fun for kids though, they're even marketed that way "perfect for little hands to handle" is written on  the box.

Just this reporter's opinion:@)
Have a happy day!

  12. Lynn, I am soooo sorry to hear about the break-in. That would really make me angry too. What if we all lived good moral lives, wouldn't the world be a much better place!

The cookies are so wonderful. I adore those printed ones. I haven't seen those. The little icing writers are fun. I had some Easter colored ones years ago. I thought mine were colored/white chocolate too.

  17. P.S. I missed you at Shelia's blog party? Did you participate and me somehow miss the fact that you did?

  18. I wish I could participate in Sheila's kitchen parties but unfortunately my kitchen is not Blog worthy! My home was built in 1956 and it is original, right down to the metal cabinets! I love Sheila and I struggled to try to come up with some way to participate, but I just don't have anything. Couldn't even come up with something silly-total bummer:@(

  19. I'm so glad you did this little comparison. It's good to know! I love to decorate cookies, and I just use my old fashioned squirty thing. Now, I'll be on the lookout for WS on sale.

And I will be much more willing to share my email, too.

  22. Thanks for sharing the information. I've never tried any of these.
I read your note about the Cupboard Party. I didn't have a post to share on this either. Felt bad about not participating, but just didn't come up with something. ;-)
