Leftover Cherry Pie Filling-Any Ideas?

Edited to say: Thank you so much everyone, all yummy ideas! I ended up making my G-Mom-B's Crumb Cake and adding the cherry filling between the cake and crumbs, it's in the oven. Hopefully it will work and not make the crumbs too soft by tomorrow morning. As I'm typing this I think I probably should have added it between the batter... I'm a puff pastry novice and wasn't sure if it would hold up until work tomorrow:@)

Hi everyone! I have about 2/3rd's of a can (about 1 1/2 cups) of cherry pie filling left from my Valentine's Day cupcakes and I'd like to do something with it-besides taking a spoon to it! I have standard pantry items, one brick of cream cheese, walnuts, choco chips and one piece of puff pastry I could play with...
Any ideas?
Thanks and have a happy day:@)

  1. Lynn, you must go check out Jackie, "She's Made HOGBURGERS"!!! http://purplechocolathome.blogspot.com/2011/01/hogburger.html
Now for your left overs.... How would it be to MIX all the goodies together and bake them on that crust??? is there enough sugar in the cherries to sweeten the cream cheese... I guess you could keep the walnuts and choco chips to sprinkle on the top??? Something like that! It sure all mixes in my mind!!!
    Hugs to you,

  2. Put them all back in the pantry and go out to dinner and eat dessert there. So much easier.

  3. This is not going to help but I used to make a freezer pie with graham crust that had the following: cool whip, cheery pie filling, sweeetened cond. milk, drained fruit cocktail. Mix it up and freeze it.

  4. Yes, use the puff pastry. Sweeten the cream cheese and soften. Blop onto the pastry then the cherries, or vice versa, it works both ways. Bake and enjoy!

  10. I'll agree with Kathleen's idea...I would leave off the chocolate chips though...or I make Danish pastry with your ingrediants....I cut the puff pastry into 4 squares...mix the cream cheese with a little powdered sugar put the pastry on your workspace in the shape of a triangle...first down the cream cheese about a tablespoon then top with the cherries...brush all sides with an egg wash then fold over two sides towards the center bake at 400 for about 15 minutes or until golden brown...they are fabulous....an Ina Garten recipe...

God bless and please do show what you came up with. Inquiring minds want to know.
