Bread Machine Pizza Dough

I think the most impressive thing I can say about this Pizza Dough is, my teenage sons always asked me to make it! A bread machine's dough cycle takes 90 minutes, but you can also set the timer in the morning to have the dough ready after work. This is a good basic recipe and now that I'm not making it for teenagers, sometimes (like today) I even sub 1/4 C whole wheat flour. That makes it healthy-right?:@)
One quarter of the one pound recipe makes a personal pan pizza. I've made a half batch and quarter batch in the bread machine and it works out fine.

Pizza Dough-from the cookbook that came with my Breadman Plus Bread Machine
1 lb-makes 12" pizza or 4 personal pizzas
3/4 C warm water
1 Tblsp olive oil
2 1/4 C A/P flour
1 tsp salt
1 tsp sugar
1 tsp yeast

1 1/2 lb-makes 15" pizza
1 1/8 C warm water
1 1/2 Tblsp olive oil
3 1/3 C A/P flour
1 1/2 tsp salt
1 1/2 tsp sugar
1 1/2 tsp yeast

2 lb-makes (2) 12" pizzas
1 1/2 C warm water
2 Tblsp olive oil
4 1/4 C A/P flour
2 tsp salt
2 tsp sugar
2 tsp yeast
  1. Add all ingredients to bread pan in order given.
  2. Set to dough cycle.
  3. Use immediately or place in bowl greased with olive oil, turn to coat and store covered in fridge. Or, freeze, then wrap in plastic wrap.
  4. To thaw, put in fridge overnight, loosen the plastic wrap a bit so the dough has room to expand.
  5. I bake my pizza at 450 degrees for about 12 minutes.

  2. A few weeks ago, I tried my machine for the pizza dough. It was my first time making pizza and hubby said it was great but I found it hard to roll out and it wasn't a thin crust like I had in mind...any hints on how to get the crust thin? Thanks for sharing. xo

    1. My crust gets puffy too, but I like that... Love the thin, crispy type too but I haven't tried to make it... yet:@)

    2. After you rolled out the dough punch it all over with a fork this will keep it from going all puffy

  6. I love making homemade pizza dough. Mine is a little different- using honey instead of sugar but I am going to have to see if there are any other differences because I am getting low on honey. I usually make one pizza and freeze the other or else I make garlic knots!!! I love pizza dough for everything!

  8. Were you listening in on my phone conversations tonight??? Two hours ago, I was JUST talking to my Italian neighbor about making homemade pizza dough!!!!!
    Now I'm REALLY hungry for some! LOL

    I have a DAK bread machine & I don't remember a pizza dough recipe in the book. I'll have to go back & look.

  12. One of my favorite things to make (and eat!) is homemade pizza. I freeze extra dough, too. It sure comes in handy. Of course, with our son being here now, there's no need to freeze the dough, because there isn't any extra!! Your personal pizza looks so good, Lynn! I used to have a bread machine, but I don't any more.

  13. I've got a real "thing" for the garlic rolls in the nice Italian restaurants (the ones dripping with olive oil, garlic, parsley and basil, etc.

    Finally had to ask the son of a fine Italian restaurant owner ... how to make those rolls (they're usually tied in a little knot to catch the garlic .. or somehow bumpy enough to do that).

    The answer was: It is pizza dough.

    Arghhhh, how to get fat in a hurry!
