As we're coming into cantaloupe season, inquiring minds want to know... do you salt yours or not?
While I do enjoy a nice ripe one au naturale, I did grow up eating it salted and love that too!
For my Friday night snack I used Chipotle Sea Salt-very nice with cheese and crackers!
Earl prefers his unsalted
"huh? were you talking to me?"
How about you?
Have a happy weekend:@)
I prefer my melon just plain, but ice cold. I have never tried it with salt. I will have to try a slice sprinkled with a little salt.
ReplyDeleteWell...with salt if I eat it alone, but, of course, without in a fruit salad! I have some in my fridge right now! Happy weekend!...hugs...Debbie
ReplyDeleteEarl made me laugh. I never eat salt on cantaloupe, sometimes yes on watermelon.
ReplyDeleteD
Salting cantaloupe is new to me, that chipotle salt sounds delicious.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by Slice of Pie! I eat my melon with and without salt! When it is really hot outside ... like the 108 in Southern Illinois today ... I crave it with salt!
ReplyDeleteYou know, I've never heard of adding salt to cantaloupe. I'm going to try that next time.
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute photo of Earl. Just found out he has a long lost sister, too. I eat my 'loupes unsalted, but have tasted it with and it does make it seem sweeter. Keep cool this weekend. xo
ReplyDeleteI almost didn't see Earl..he matches! - I really like salt on mine, that chipotle sea salt sounds good though a bit of a smokey flavor...very interesting.
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend, friend! xo
i'm w/ earl. no salt. not on watermelon either.
ReplyDeleteNot on cantaloupe but yes on watermelon sometimes. I rarely add salt after cooking or on raw veggies or fruits-it is the nurse in me I fear.
ReplyDeleteIt has never occurred to me to salt cantaloupe to enjoy by itself...Hmmm. Sounds pretty delicious.

P.S. Thanks for your comment. I smiled when you wrote you had 4" of space...It's a skill to pack the fruit.
Salt and Pepper for me! I love cantaloupe, on of my favorite fruits. Happy weekend!
ReplyDeleteI grew up with salted cantaloupe. Your chipotle sounds extra good. That Earl sure likes to get into mischief, doesn't he? He's about the cutest thing in blogland. 🐷
ReplyDeleteNo salt for my sweet cantaloupe....and none on my watermelon, either. :))
ReplyDeleteoxo
My Grandma introduced me to salt on cantaloupe so sometimes I want that taste just to remind me of her. : )
ReplyDeleteNo on cantaloupe, yes on watermelon...
ReplyDeleteI've never tried salt on my cantaloupe. sounds interesting.
ReplyDeleteMy Dad put salt on watermelon and apples too!!! I do not.
ReplyDeleteEarl made me laugh out loud today.
Have a great weekend!
xxoo
I've never had it salted, but the chipotle sea salt sounds great to me!
ReplyDeleteNo no & no. Ewwwwww I can almost smell the cantaloupe through your blog. Lol. Now...I love watermelon and have put salt on it before- yummmy. Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteJust curious....is salting it an east coast thing? Only ask because growing up in the east my dad salted both cantaloupe and watermelon, I followed his model and did the same. I haven't seen that as a practice in the west. Grandma also sprinkled a bit of sugar on tomato slices...but I am thinking that was just to get me to eat the tomato!
ReplyDeleteOurs, too is a mixed marriage. I don't salt. He does. Either way it is delicious. Have a fabulous weekend. Blessings...Mary
ReplyDeleteI love cantaloupe and will eat it both ways but must admit to salting it mostly! Hugs, Linda
ReplyDeleteI feel kind of out of some kind of loop because I have never tried it salted. I guess I should try it on some tonight. We're having some with dinner. Hmm.
ReplyDeleteMy dad always salted his cantelope! I wonder if that is a Pennsylvania thing as that is here he grew up? I do both -- I love cantelope!
