I have two sons in their mid 20's, one story for each:@) When they were little we always had a Halloween party. One of the highlights was when I'd gather the kids around and read The Pumpkin Smasher. We bought a paperback from a book club at school. I read this for several years then during a move, it disappeared.
Last year I searched on-line but couldn't find it. One Sunday my son came to dinner not only with the book, but a library edition covered hard back!!! Thanks Jim! This book has a Copyright of 1972 and originally sold for $4.41 so I'm joining the Vintage Halloween Blog Party!

I love my dancing pigs header and will never change it,
but the "party pig" on the end wanted to be Santa for Halloween...
My son asked a co-worker to add the hat-Thanks Jay!
They're working on making it big enough for my holiday header-yay!
Quick tip: clean the lid of your fresh cut Jack-O-Lantern then liberally shake cinnamon on it,
it will smell like pumpkin pie as it's lit.

ReplyDeleteThis is goes to show how special it is to raise children with family traditions. I'm sure I've read this book during my years of teaching, but will look for it again. I used to tell the same "spooky" story to my class each year. Now I wonder if I still have a copy. LOL

I don't think I have ever seen this book, but I went and read the reviews and it sounds good. I like your cinnamon tip for the jack-o-lantern lids!

I have never read that book and now am going on the watch for it. I want to know just what I am missing. How you must have been surprised when Jim walked thru the door with it.
