Orange Cinnamon Spritz Cookies -Valentine's Day or Any Day

You may have heard me say it before, I'm a big fan of using my cookie press for more than just Christmas cookies! Just about every press comes with a heart shaped disc and I'm guessing most of us have red colored sugar so... How about whipping up some Orange Cinnamon Spritz Cookies for Valentine's Day (or any day:@) This is a nice cookie folks, sweet enough to appeal to kids and it's a perfect flavor combination for an adult to enjoy with a nice cup of tea or coffee.

An easy holiday treat:@)
Recipe can be cut in half, just use the yolk of the egg.

Orange Cinnamon Spritz Cookies-adapted from Simply Southern Baking
1 C butter
3/4 C sugar
1 Tblsp fresh orange zest
1 tsp orange extract
1/4 tsp vanilla extract
1 egg
2 1/4 C A/P flour
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp salt
  1. Beat butter, sugar and orange zest until creamed.
  2. Beat in extracts and egg.
  3. Add everything else, mix well.
  4. Place dough in cookie press using disc(s) of choice.
  5. Press cookies onto cool, ungreased cookie sheets.
  6. Decorate with colored sugar or sprinkles if desired.
  7. Bake at 400 degrees for 7-9 minutes or until lightly golden brown on edges.
  8. Remove cookies to cooling rack.

  2. What a perfect cookie for Valentine's Day, Lynn. I have a spritz cookie recipe with cinnamon and orange, and I love that combo. Sprinkles make everything prettier! Happy Valentine's week!
