Mother Nature's Sense of Humor

Well, here it is folks, after 16 years my forsythia has finally bloomed...
They grow wild and are a riot of yellow on the side of roads everywhere, but this one is stingy with flowers.
While it might look dead, in two weeks it will be full of lush green leaves and growing like crazy.
Oh well, I guess it is a sign of warmer weather... no matter how small.

Have a happy day:@)

  2. Lynn, I've been admiring those bright yellow blooms on the side of the road for years! I finally broke down and bought a small forsythia bush at Lowe's a couple weeks ago. Hope your bush is full of flowers this year :)

  3. I think forsythia have a funny sense of humor. Some years they do well and some years they don't. Go figure.

  4. A good friend of ours who is a landscaper says when those bloom it's time to put the fertilizer on. Good thing you didn't wait 16 years. HA! Have a good week!

  6. Hi Lynn, I haven't had good luck getting forsythias to flower either. I finally removed one because it never bloomed. The secret? I have no idea.

  10. Awww your forsythia doesn't want to put on much of show for you, but at least you'll get the green leaves before too long. Have you ever tried forcing the blooms indoors? Maybe yours would prefer the inside!

  15. 16 years is a long time to wait. Maybe the forsythia is just revving up for a spectacular show in the future!!!

  16. This is about exactly the way our forsythia bush does, too, Lynn. It drives me crazy! I love forsythia, and we had one that bloomed beautifully at our other house. I think maybe the one we have now doesn't get enough sun. Ours usually blooms every year, but not many blossoms at all. Wow, 16 years is a long time!

Have a good day, Lynn. :)
