Mardi Gras Pizzelles

Hi everyone, Mardi Gras is next Tuesday already-did you  know that? Thought I'd share something fun from last year... Mardi Gras Pizzelles! You can also do this with sugar cookies.
They loved these pretty cookies at the office!
Have a happy day:@)
Vanilla Pizzelles
3 eggs, room temp
3/4 C sugar
1/2 C melted butter, cooled
1 1/2 tsp vanilla
1 3/4 C flour (I add 2 tblsp corn starch to the measuring cup, then fill with flour)
2 tsp baking powder
Directions:
Beat eggs and sugar. Add butter and vanilla. Sift flour and baking powder together and add to wet, mix well.
At this point I divided it into three bowls and added the coloring (use as little as possible to create the colors). I scooped a bit of each color up on a spoon and made the pizzelles following the directions that came with my machine.

  3. Hi Lynn, My, you are so with the times! Mardi Gras and St. Paddy's on the blog already! Good for you. I just put out the St. Patrick's Day placemats on my table and have a box of decorations to put out as well. Your pizzelles look so festive and so does the Mardi Gras cake! Have a wonderful week, Lynn!

  5. Love the pastel colors. And the beads. I didn't know beads were a big part of Mardi Gras until I read it this year on blogs.

Did you hide Flat Stanley in there instead of the baby?

I still haven't tried my pizzelle maker out! Think I'll make green ones for St. Patrick's day! LOL

  12. Hi Lynn, Are these cookies kind of crispy? They sure are pretty.

I can't get past thinking about my daughter and family coming tonight. Let alone Mardi Gras. HA! They will only be her three days. Sigh.

Have a fun day creating the most delicious cooking and baking things you do.
    Hugs, Jeanne

  22. How PRETTY!!! You must tell HelenHartman that they are NOT Sweet...at least, not like she is thinking. I ♥♥♥ pizzelles & I think I need to go buy myself an iron to make them. I usually leave it up to my baby sis but she is doing WW. *sigh*

I love how you colored yours, Lynn. Don't know if you used liquid colors or the paste but they're beautiful.

Thank you for the tip on adding corn starch to the flour. Interesting.

    Hugs,
    Rett

  27. Where did you get your machine? I have a neighbor that makes these for us for Christmas and they are so light and lovely. Reminds me of my mom.
