Slow Cooker Cranberry Sauce & Barbie's Thanksgiving Buffet 2019

Sometimes an ad in a food magazine jumps out at me and I just have to try. That was the case with this Slow Cooker Cranberry Sauce. The recipe comes from McCormick and what makes it different is the addition of bay leaves. It was also the first time I've made it in a Crock Pot. This cranberry sauce got a thumbs up from my crew (I've made it twice now) and we could taste both the bay and orange. As for my picture, well... Cranberry sauce is, shall we say, a bit camera shy:@)

The recipe is easily cut in half for a smaller slow cooker.
I used a potato masher when the recipe called for stirring, it helped break up the cranberries.

Tip: Zest the orange before you peel and section it.
I measure 1 tsp amounts of zest and freeze it in plastic wrap  to use for baking at another time.

Barbie invited everyone over for a casual Thanksgiving dinner, and to allow for elbow room at the table, set-up a buffet on the kitchen counter. Plenty of turkey, side dishes, a desserts corner, and... A sink full of ice and holiday cheer (and it looks like the chef might just be reaching for a glass:@) Free no-sew apron pattern can be found here.

First, I'd like to ask that you humor me... The skillet of beads is an attempt to ~loosely~ resemble green bean casserole. Thank you. The skillet was pink, a little spray paint and I'm lovin' the black cast iron look.

The dessert corner...

Good food, good friends, (football) and family.
Barbie says yes, there's a lot to be thankful for😊

From all of us at PIM,
we wish you a...

Very Happy Holiday Season:@)

  4. Yum! Things in magazines are constantly jumping out at me. I clip them, and then sometimes forget them. This sounds delish, Lynn, and using the slow cooker makes it easy.

  5. Sounds perfect for turkey day! Love a dish I can toss together, then not worry about when it's cooking. The bay is a surprise ingredient, but I'm pretty sure I'd approve :)

  6. This is a great way to make cranberry sauce when you don't have any room on the stove and you can make it ahead of time too.

  10. I'm going to try this! I love cranberry sauce. Not the jello and ground up apples and nuts and stuff. Yuck. The addition of the oranges in this sounds so good. Happy Thanksgiving!

  13. I have never tried making my own cranberry sauce but this sounds so tasty and like something I'd enjoy way more than the canned kind that I don't even try eating.
