Jello Spritz Cookies

My infatuation with Jello continues... I just had to whip up some Jello Spritz Cookies as soon as I saw them! My cookies were tinted pink/purple by Black Cherry Jello and they had the faint flavor of Cherry Jello, imagine that:@) I did add more red food coloring. This recipe made a nice dough for spritz cookies, it had the perfect consistency and stuck to the sheets well.
This is a fun little novelty cookie and one I think the kids would get a kick out of!

The vintage ad that was my inspiration:

Jello Spritz Cookies-from HubPages
4 C A/P flour
1 tsp baking powder
1 1/2 C butter-I used 1 C butter, 1/2 C shortening
1 C sugar
3oz package of Jello, any flavor
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla
sprinkles and decorations of your choice
  1. Sift flour and baking powder, set aside.
  2. Cream butter, add sugar and Jello, mix well.
  3. Add egg and vanilla, mix well.
  4. Add flour/baking powder, mix until just combined.
  5. Press dough through cookie press onto cool, ungreased cookie sheets. Decorate if desired.
  6. Bake at 400 degrees for 9-13 minutes or until edges just begin to brown.
Have a sticky sweet happy day:@)

  1. Merry Christmas Lynn, These cookies take me back to my childhood in the 1950's. My Mom had a cookie press and she made these beautiful little cookies. Are these presses hard to use? There must be some trick to releasing the dough, for each cookie to turn out so perfectly-perfect :) Yours are lovely . . . Got milk?

    1. Hello, the presses are even easier to use today because they have trigger handles, just one squeeze and you have a cookie:@)

  9. I do have a cookie press "somewhere." Gee, I haven't seen it in years, but I'd love to resurrect it and make some spritz :) Yours look wonderful!
P.S. My sugar cookie icing dries hard not sticky.

I've made jello cookies for years, usually at Valentines Day (Pink Hearts) I'll have to try the spritz, they look fantastic.

  12. I followed the recipe exactly, had all the right ingredients and amounts, they did not turn out at all. They were a powdered like consistency. Luckily, I could squeeze them into balls and make them like that then right when they got out the oven, I used a spatula to press them down to sugar cookie like thickness. I made lime jello kind and they were sickening, honestly. Edible but my 3 kids didn't even want them.
