It's about 18" long and has those little yellow barbs that catch hair etc in the pipe so it can be removed.
Insert, push down, pull out (slowly-yuck) and toss. Easy peasy!
Full disclosure: I did wipe it off carefully in an upward motion with paper towels
and ran it down the other side of the drain too.

Now, am I saying this is a cure-all? No, but it's sure worth a try before you call the plumber!

I so need one of these. I have super thick long curly hair which means the tub is always draining slow. I have been doing it the Redneck way with a wire hanger. And you are right is is oh so gross!
