I have a bird house that has old wooden spools painted white and stacked for columns, it would be a shame to paint these though :)Maryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16398643098588491009noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-161712254926360234.post-55392210718597123182014-01-13T14:48:04.569-05:002014-01-13T14:48:04.569-05:00What a fun find! They decorated the spools with ribbon and lace and put a curlicue wire coming up from the top that held individual letters. It would be cute for Valentine's Day, for example 'LOVE'. Here is how the wire would look.
http://www.displays2go.com/P-11685/Note-Holders-with-a-Wire-Heart-Shaped-Coil Candy C.https://www.blogger.com/profile/07863818451136277378noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-161712254926360234.post-14738355955145950072014-01-13T09:10:20.003-05:002014-01-13T09:10:20.003-05:00I love these old spools. For christmas this year my son-in-law got me an ornament made with a wooden spool some fabric and ribbon wrapped around where the thread would be - beads on both ends and a loop for hanging on the tree. I showed it on my blog. Very simple and very clever idea.

I can't believe that price - those would have been 5.00 a bag at our Goodwill - great bargain. I'd also love them in a glass apothecary jar because I have some with thread on them in one and it looks pretty.
