The best of intentions...

Hey everyone! I invited Ma over to test a new scone recipe that sounded good, Orange Ginger Scones...
FAIL!
I had a feeling things were going down hill from the way the batter was just way too wet, extra flour helped a little... but once I looked in the oven, well, lets just say I'll be cleaning up butter for a while...
Soft and melty, not scone like at all. Needless to say I won't be sharing the recipe.

I guess this is why they sell...
I hope your kitchen adventures work out better than mine today,
I need a big ole cup of coffee and a fork!
Have a happy day:@)

  1. Oh, Lynn, every once in a great while, it is bound to happen. Are you sure Earl didn't add something when you weren't looking? Those Pepperidge Farm cakes are so good, though. :) xo

  10. All kitchens at one time or another have to deal with failed recipes. You are just more honest about it than most. Thank goodness you had something you could substitute for them. Here's to better days :-). Blessings...Mary

  15. You win some and some you don't. My first failure was in junior high home ec when I didn't know the difference in baking powder and baking soda (well, they're both white and powdery) and has continued through the years. Maybe we should start a link up and call it "Failure Fridays"!!

    Best,
    Bonnie

  21. Actually, I have peach bread pudding in the oven right now. Of course after I put it in, I realized that I put in a stick of butter instead of a half of a stick. It said to check it at 30 minutes, well I did...and it was raw. At 45 minutes, still too wet and soupy. I've added another 20 and we will see what I end up with. We all have those baking flops!
