We are plagued with an abundance of pitchfork toting squirrels, digging in my pots and chewing up our chairs. I left a heavy duty plastic container of birdseed in the driveway for 15 minutes yesterday and came back to finish refilling the feeders and one had chewed a golf ball size hole through my nice lid. It's not enough that I keep them so well fed, I'm not fast enough :)Maryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16398643098588491009noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-161712254926360234.post-42506192871050410862014-05-24T22:05:34.727-04:002014-05-24T22:05:34.727-04:00Haha! LOL

Get some cayenne pepper & sprinkle it all over the remaining leaves of your tender plants. That will discourage the critters from nibbling on them. I was able to save several of my pretty tulips in the front from being devoured...either deer or rabbits ate all 12 of my other plants right down to the ground before I learned about the pepper. I bought a fresh bottle for $4 & have been using it after any rain. So far, so good...not one tulip or eggplant or cucumber plant has been touched!!Rettabughttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09974677657528087286noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-161712254926360234.post-75948671329524880622014-05-24T14:43:17.494-04:002014-05-24T14:43:17.494-04:00I can't imagine YOU fishing a jalapeno out of ...I can't imagine YOU fishing a jalapeno out of anything so it must have been very hot! I just put a flag in the center of the planter hoping the movement would deter them. What really kills me is, I had the flag in there because a bird snipped off one of my string bean plants, just moved it at 5:30 last night, between 5:30 PM and 5:30 AM some varmint got my jalapeno! I hope his mouth is still burning:@)Lynnhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13420480574010238475noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-161712254926360234.post-24160680313681165792014-05-24T11:50:00.147-04:002014-05-24T11:50:00.147-04:00Linda is right - squirrel is good to eat, seriousl...Linda is right - squirrel is good to eat, seriously. I'm SO sorry that some critter ate your jalapeno plant; that really is disheartening. Those naughty squirrels -- they and their chipmunk cousins are a real nuisance here in our area. Also, we have lots of deer, and they eat everything. They're so pretty, but my husband calls them cute rats. :) I think the fork tines pushed into the ground sounds like a good idea -- I hope you get the problem solved. Have a wonderful weekend and enjoy your barbecue!

Hugs,

Denise at Forest ManorDenisehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01235440820949449634noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-161712254926360234.post-33752001973513128902014-05-24T10:08:39.394-04:002014-05-24T10:08:39.394-04:00monster squirrel! fyi, i saw another blogger post ...monster squirrel! fyi, i saw another blogger post about squirrel deterrents - to keep them from digging up seeds etc. she pushed plastic forks into the dirt around the area - tine side up. she said it works, so thought i'd tell you in case it might help your plant.

love the pea blossoms!TexWisGirlhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13641962051044162710noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-161712254926360234.post-52558854125432103302014-05-24T09:01:06.610-04:002014-05-24T09:01:06.610-04:00Enjoy this weekend.
