Trash To Treasure -Garden Obelisk & The Barbie Movie Review

I'm always tickled to find something fun on the curb on trash day, and this garden obelisk is a winner:@) While not huge, it's a very good size to help corral my large pot of zinnias. About 4' tall and the bottom bar is 7" long, it was probably marketed as 8" with the way the legs are on an angle. I found it right before the flowers started blooming, so it could be added to the pot without too much effort or disruption. 

The rust adds a ton of character.

As a matter of fact,

I'll probably lightly sand the top star

so it rusts a bit quicker too💗.

My review of Barbie The Movie, written 7/21/23, I had opening day 10:30 AM tickets:

Ok folks, I literally just left the movie theater and drove home. My random thoughts... 

Take the PG13 literally. While there were only three brief moments of vulgarity, I think it's more because little kids will get bored and not be able to follow along with the story line? Heck, I'm a big girl and I'm a little confused... The outfits/costumes are fantastic, straight from the Barbie archives, so that's fun. I've always loved big Hollywood musical and dance productions, so I was looking forward to that aspect. I wish there was more of it to be honest. Kudo's to Ryan Gosling for really singing, I personally think he did a good job:@) They say they wanted to blend gender lines, I will say the only kiss in the movie was between Ken dolls. But that was harmless, as a matter of fact I think(?) that scene kinda recreated one from a Bob Hope movie or show. 

My absolute favorite line...

"An idea can live forever".

What I hope Mattel markets...

Don't read any further if you don't want to know what I think the message of the movie is...

As I mentioned, I'm not really sure what we're supposed to take away from the movie... I think there are two things. The one they very overtly and ~loudly~ put out front was, it's hard to be a woman. Period. They really stressed that, right up to the end. The more subtle message was, you be you. Don't look to anyone or anything else to define yourself, you are enough alone, be who and what you want to be.

I had hoped to walk out feeling excited and elated, kinda like the first time I saw Rocky... Did I? No. But I just had to see what all of the hype was about. It does touch on all emotions effectively, and they do poke a little fun at Mattel. Overall, I think the two leads looked fabulous and were great to watch, the scenery was true to Mattel playsets, yes, there is a lot of pink... And, it's unlike anything else I've ever seen.
